The Flickcast – Page 56 of 1030 – Stuff Nerds Love

24 Hours Later, How Do You Feel About the TMNT Trailer?

TMNT Cover Image

I feel the same way as most of the people reading this. You’re here because you’re a late 20s to early 40s male who is scared that Michael Bay is going to ruin something else from your childhood. After the last two Transformers films, I can understand it. But think back to the first Transformers movie. While there were certainly some decisions I’d disagree with, like Optimus Prime having a mouth, for the most part Bay did a good job with it.

Looking at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles teaser released yesterday (and seen below), the internet have fallen into one of three camps. The minority seems to be wholly optimistic of the project.

For now, we’ll call these the blissfully ignorant be it that they have absolutely no taste at all or they have never seen what Michael Bay can do to a franchise when left unchecked or had to watch Megan Fox attempt to act. Then there is the grouping I am currently in which is okay with the current trailer, excited about the positive possibilities but is still have trepidations about getting our hopes up too high because we know that never ends well when it comes to Michael Bay.

Facebook Buys the Oculus Rift for $2,000,000,000

Oculus-Rift

“Oculus has the chance to create the most social platform ever, and change the way we work, play, and communicate,” says Mark Zuckerberg. But honestly, do you really need to see your friends baby pictures in virtual reality? It was announced yesterday that Facebook would be purchasing the technology company of Oculus VR, the creators of the Oculus Rift. In total, Facebook would be paying by way of $400 million in cash and 23.1 million Facebook shares which comes down to about $1.6 billion.

Oculus Rift has been the talk of the gaming industry since gamers were finally able to start getting their hands on it over the past year, putting to bed the speculation that VR was dead or that it might go the way of the Virtual Boy and be a huge flop. Top creators had begun trying to figure out if the platform was right for their games and early testers were raving about the potential they already got a taste of.

Here’s the New ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer

X_Men_Days_of_Future_Past

To be honest, I’m kinda looking frward to this movie more than pretty much any other this Summer. Why? Well, because it’s the X-Men, that’s why.

Plus, Bryan Singer in the director’s chair and a cast that’s the envy of the civilized movie-watching world. Also, it just looks cool. Oh, and because this sound like a movie I’m gonna love:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from the past, “X-Men: First Class,” in order to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle that could save our future.

And yes, there’s a new trailer that’s just dropped today. Check it out after the break.

Look for X-Men: Days of Future Past to arrive in theaters on May 23.

X-Files fans know “the truth is out there” and now they can find it themselves. IDW Games announced today the upcoming release of The X-Files board game.

Designed by Kevin Wilson, best known for Arkham Horror and Civilization, The X-Files board game uses material from the first three seasons of the TV show. Players team up in groups of two to five to investigate strange phenomenon and battle the “Monsters of the Week.” They will also fight against another player who controls the Cigarette Smoking Man and the Syndicate. Gallery and comic book artist menton3 provided both art direction and the box art for the game.

“To me, there’s no more exciting title than The X-Files,” Jerry Bennington, IDW Director of New Business, said. “Who wouldn’t want the chance to play as the wise cracking Fox Mulder or the incredibly intelligent Dana Scully?”

The X-Files board game, made in collaboration with Pandasaurus Games, will be available this July at the suggested retail price of $59.99.
