The Flickcast – Page 79 of 1030 – Stuff Nerds Love

TV RECAP: ‘The Walking Dead’ Episode 405: ‘Internment’

Walking Dead 405 Pic

This was a fairly boring episode for about the first 25 minutes or so. But it picked up so much in the second half. This turned out to be a pretty great episode after some not so great ones.

Rick returns without Carol, and tells Maggie what happened. She agrees with his choice, and Rick tells her he will only tell Herschel for now. Maggie has already gone to see Herschel to try and help, but he won’t let her into quarantine.

When a patient dies from the illness, Herschel is bringing them to an isolated area to kill them when they turn. He doesn’t want the people seeing. He believes that a sad soul is worse than any germ.

While Rick is talking to Herschel, a woman dies. Herschel passes by her to help Sasha, who has passed out but still seems to be alive. Herschel gives her an IV and she wakes up. She still thinks Herschel is a fool for risking his life to help them, but she is alive because of that.

TV RECAP: ‘Grimm’ Episode 303: ‘A Dish Best Served Cold’

Grimm 303 Pic

Nick is at the doctor’s office doing the typical TV doctor’s office visit test – running on a treadmill with all kinds of wires on him. No matter how fast he runs, his heartbeat and blood pressure do not change. The doctor figures there is just an issue with the equipment.

Monroe and Rosalee are out to eat, and Monroe awkwardly asks Rosalee to move in with him. They profess their love for each other, and she accepts. The chef sends over some beef and truffle tarts to the table, but Rosalee eats them both, as Monroe is apparently now a vegetarian. A couple comes over to say hi to Monroe for no apparent reason.

As in all TV shows, nothing ever happens “for no reason.” Two people have died under gruesome circumstances. They climbed up into a tree and their stomachs exploded. At least one of them was a Blutbad. Nick and Hank find out that the two “victims” ate at the same restaurant.

Hank and Nick talk to the chef at the restaurant who assures them he has no health violations. Nick notices that the chef and his whole cook staff are Bauerschwein, basically pig people.

Whiskey & Waffles Recaps Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo

stanleecomikaze-cp

Another Con has come and gone and while Blizzcon is happening next weekend, it looks like Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo will be the last major con for the Whiskey & Waffles crew in 2013. Sure there will probably be a few smaller conventions, but this is the last of the big ones before the year closes.

But we wanted to share with you what Comikaze was like for us… well for me. Sadly WallE wasn’t able to attend Comikaze this year so I hit the floor solo and grabbed a bunch of footage to share with you all.

We didn’t get to do or normal round of interviews since I was shooting solo but I did get to hang on the floor with the guys from Bad Weather Films and appear on a panel for That Cosplay Show who were debuting the first look at their webseries of the same name which will be starting in early 2014.

TV RECAP: ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Episode 106: ‘F.Z.Z.T.’

Agents of Shield 106 Pic

The team is called in to investigate a mysterious death of Boy Scout leader on a camping trip in the woods. The man is hovering in mid-air due to some kind of electro magnetic activity. There is also what appears to be an entry wound of some sort on his forehead.

While investigating this case, another man dies in a similar fashion on his farm. He is in the barn, floating, and it looks like he was trying to get away from someone. The team is under the impression that there is a murderer on the loose with some kind of never before seen electro-magnetic super weapon.

The investigation leads to a firehouse, where Coulson take note of a very nervous looking man. When Coulson interviews him, he finds out that the two men who died were part of a fire crew that helped out after the alien invasion. They had taken one of the alien’s helmets as a souvenir, and had recently cleaned it.

Cleaning the helmet released some kind of alien virus, and the three firefighters who cleaned it ended up infected. Two of them are already dead, and the third man, Tony Diaz, is not going to last much longer.

Coulson tells Diaz how he died once, and he knows it was for longer than 8 seconds. He tells Diaz it’s beautiful. Diaz’ electro-magnetic field is rising, and he tells Coulson to leave.

TV RECAP: ‘Arrow’ Episode 205: ‘League of Assassins’

Arrow 205 A Pic

Sara is staying with Oliver while she is in town. Oliver is still trying to convince her to let her family know she is alive. As though she’s just going to do it after saying she couldn’t all those other times.

Oliver heads to a meeting with the D.A. regarding Moira’s case. Laurel has been assigned second chair for the case against Moira, despite the 50 different ties she has to the family. A plea bargain of life with the possibility of parole has been offered, and Moira is considering it. Oliver is appalled that Laurel would work on this case, but Laurel reminds him that the only reason there is a plea bargain on the table is because of her.

Oliver returns to the house, and talks with Sara again. She says that the things she had to do offer her no forgiveness. A man dressed in Malcolm’s villain gear attacks Oliver and Sara, but they manage to fight him off, and he flees.

Oliver introduces Sara to Diggle and Felicity, and Sara says that the man was after her, not Oliver. The man is called Al-Owal, and he works for the League of Assassins. Diggle has heard of this league, but thought it was a myth. They are deadly warriors that kill and vanish like ghosts.

TV RECAP: ‘Once Upon a Time’ Ep. 307: ‘Dark Hollow’

JAMES IMMEKUS, MATT KANE, JOANNA GARCIA SWISHER, EMILIE DE RAVIN

An incredible thing happened in “Dark Hollow” on this week’s Once Upon a Time. There was actual progress toward the goal of finding Henry. Things literally happened instead of just more stagnant set up. The plan to get off the island after rescuing Henry is set, Emma makes a choice between her suitors, Ariel proves surprisingly useful and much more fun than in her titular episode, and we learn who Pan is keeping locked up in a wooden cage. Also, Belle and Storybrooke remain awesome and far more interesting than the Neverland lot. So let’s swoop in to “Dark Hollow…”

Just five days ago in the Once universe, Belle said goodbye to her true love. This scene it’s just as touching as the first time. I miss this pairing so much. While she tearfully watches the Jolly Roger disappear, the rest of the town runs up to celebrate having been saved. Belle shuts them up by saying Greg and Tamara took Henry and producing the cloaking spell for the Blue Fairy to examine.

On the road to Storybrooke, a red convertible carrying some Hipsters approaches. (Seriously, that’s not the beginning of a joke.)

Game Review: ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ for XBox 360

Call of Duty Ghosts Cover Image

One billion dollars in merchandise shipped to retailers on day one. Quite the ambitious feat and though Grand Theft Auto V set the record for the fastest entertainment property to hit a billion dollars in actual sales in three days, Call of Duty: Ghosts is in a unique position in how they will reach it. This is the first Call of Duty since Call of Duty 2 to be released on a crossover year with a new console launch.

Not all gamers who are planning on purchasing the PlayStation 4 later this week or the XBox One next week are going to be able to afford a double purchase and considering what we’ve seen with the next gen graphics, it is certainly splitting the sales. And considering it is also a yearly franchise, there isn’t that same gigantic level of hype for a new Call of Duty the way there is for a new Grand Theft Auto. That said, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a game you are going to want to play.

The Long

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the first entry into the Call of Duty franchise from Infinity Ward since the conclusion of the Modern Warfare trilogy two years ago. They not only needed to introduce an entirely new set of characters but a new status quo as well. Set in a world similar to that of Modern Warfare and Black Ops, this version has a group of allied forces fending off an attack from the Federation.
