In an effort to raise awareness, NBC’s Awake is the latest series pilot to be put online ahead of the series premiere to drum up interest. In a part of a growing trend, the opening episode of the parallel universe drama starring Jason Isaacs is being made available 2 weeks before the series’ premiere on March 1.
This comes one day after the network put out the first seven minutes of the mid-season replacement series. The show is created by Kyle Killen (Lone Star) and also executive produced by Howard Gordon (24, Homeland).
A similar tactic was used for Smash, which premiered Feb. 6 to 11.4 million total viewers and a 3.8 rating following The Voice. NBC released the first episode for the “making of a Broadway musical” show beginning Jan. 16 via digital platforms, three weeks before it launched. The network also screened the pilot in select cities.
Awake makes its way to the small screen Thursday, March 1 at 10 p.m., taking over the slot previously occupied by Prime Suspect and The Firm, the latter now airing on Saturdays.
Awake centers on police detective Michael Britten (Isaacs) who finds himself living in two realities after a brutal car accident, one where his wife Hannah (Laura Allen) is alive and the other where his son Rex (Dylan Minnette) is.
Watch the full pilot after the jump.

Even with the news that NBC has decided to bench Community for the mid-season (stupid decision that) we still have some episodes of the show left to enjoy. In fact, there’s one tonight.
We’ve got a preview for it as well as for some of the other shows hitting the network tonight and tomorrow night. On Community, Dean Pelton takes a stab at directing. But in true meta fashion, Abed’s turning the camera on his Greendale pals.
On Parks and Recreation, we’ll be visiting the smallest park in America. They also talk about lasers. What could be wrong with that?
We’ll be leaving Scranton on The Office when Andy takes some of the staff on a field trip. And on Whitney, she and Alex explore the idea of adopting a dog.
Check them all out after the break. Enjoy Community while you can tonight starting at 8/7C on NBC.

Sometimes news comes through that will just ruin your day. For fans of the NBC comedy Community, that day may just be today. On Tuesday, NBC announced their midseason schedule, and while a few shows got an extension, one fan favorite may be facing the chopping block at the end of the season.
In order to make room for shows they believe in such as Up All Night and 30 Rock, the network has decided to not order any new episodes of Dan Harmon’s Community for the midseason, leaving them on hiatus until further notice. Whether or not this means the show is getting cancelled has yet to be decided, but it does mean that we may not get any more Community until as early as the Summer.
Also going through some changes at the network: Whitney will be moved to Wednesday nights into a block with Chelsea Handler’s new sitcom. Prime Suspect has also been put on the bench until further notice, and the legal drama Murphey’s Law got a full season order.
With the network rocking last place in the ratings, it only makes sense that they would make some drastic changes to stir up the status quo. Fans are already crying out to make sure their favorite show doesn’t get the axe, but it may take a lot in order to convince NBC otherwise.
Take a look at the new midseason schedule after the jump.

Today is Thursday so that means new episodes of some of our favorite shows tonight on NBC. Naturally, when you think new episodes, you think of previews.
So do we. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Starting off we’ve got three Parks and Recreation sneak peeks. Ron Swanson faces the herculean task of replacing Tom while Leslie takes Model U.N. to a whole new level — with loads of Leslie/Ben tension of course.
Next up on The Office, Robert California is back and on his way to becoming a zit. Or rather, joining Andy, Kevin, and Darryl’s band. Plus, Pam gets suspicious as the new temp enters the picture.
Next on Whitney, she tries to get to know Alex on a deeper level by sharing some of his forgotten interests. Finally, on Prime Suspect, things get tough for the team when a young child is murdered at school.
Check out all the previews after the break. It all starts tonight at 8/7C with Community on NBC.

It’s Thursday so that means NBC has pretty much all the shows we watch tonight. Of course, that means we’ve also got previews for all those shows for you to enjoy.
First up is one of our favorites, Community. In the episode the study group leaves the library and heads to Troy and Abed’s new pad. Of course, it won’t be that simple.
Next up on Parks and Recreation, it’s “Treat Yo Self “day for Tom and Donna while Ron and Leslie march their respective troops to the great outdoors. The Office also heads outside, but the Scranton crew is going to a very fancy garden party — at Schrute Farms. That won’t go well.
Next is Whitney where she and Alex want to bring back the romance. To to it, they really step it up. Finally, Prime Suspect rounds out the night as Jane searches for a murderer. But this week, she’s extra edgy as she tries a new technique to quit smoking.
Check out all the previews after the break. Everything starts tonight at 8/7C with Community.

Coinciding with NBC’s remake of the BBC series starring the awesome Helen Mirren, Acorn Media is releasing the original Prime Suspect, Series 1 in an individual season set on August 23rd, with guest stars Ralph Fiennes and Tom Wilkinson. Starring Oscar winner Helen Mirren in her iconic, Emmy-winning television role, the original series aired on PBS to universal acclaim with more than 20 major international awards, including seven Emmys (“Outstanding Miniseries” and “Outstanding Actress”), eight BAFTAs, and a Peabody.
The new American version, starring Maria Bello, premieres on September 22, 2011 on NBC. We’re kinda looking forward to it. Although, it’s hard to believe anyone could walk in the shoiues of Ms. Mirren. However, we’re willing to give Bello a chance because, well, you know, she’s kinda hot.
Here’s all the scoop on the DVD release from the official press release:

Even though Fall may seem pretty far into the future, it will arrive in almost the blink of an eye. To help prepare you for the new Fall TV season, we’ve got some of what will no doubt be many previews of two new shows.
The first one up is Grimm. The stories are real, at least according to this promo. Well, if they’re not real, they still look pretty scary.
Next up is Maria Bello in Prime Suspect. In this promo we meet her character, Jane Timoney, who makes for an interesting dinner date. I don’t care if she is “interesting”, I would still hang out with Maria Bello for a bit. She’s nice to look at.
Grimm will air on Friday night at 9/8C and Prime Suspect will air on Thursday at 10/9C. Check out the previews after the break.

It’s no secret we love TV. We watch it, talk about it, review it and generally spend a lot of time with it. So, it should come as no surprise we’re very interested in what new shows may potentially be coming to the networks in the near future.
Fortunately, we don’t have to do a lot of work to find out, and you have to do even less, because the guys and gals at EW have gathered together lists of all of the 2010-2011 season pilot orders for ABC, CBS and NBC. Wasn’t that nice of them? Yes, yes it was.
Just between these three networks (we’ll bring you Fox and the others, including cable, later), 31 dramas and 29 comedies are being considered. What shows will make it to the Fall schedule is still anyone’s guess, and we’ll have to wait until May to find out, but still, it’s fun to take a look at these pilots and imagine what could be.
Be warned, this is a rather long list. However, it’s kinda interesting to see the direction the networks are taking. Read on and let us know if you think any of these sound like a show you would watch.
ABC
Dramas
187 Detroit (writer Jason Richman). A light-hearted look at Detroit’s top homicide division.
Body of Evidence (Chris Murphey). A procedural about a female medical examiner who used to work as a neurosurgeon.
Cutthroat (Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters). A dramedy about a single mother who operates an international drug cartel from Beverly Hills.
Edgar Floats (Rand Ravich). A police psychologist becomes a bounty hunter.
