Tales from the Crypt, the campy-yet-excellent horror staple of the early 90s television, is back in news as producers are hoping to reignite that spark once again with a modern reboot. After 15 years of being off the small screen, the horror series will be returning to television.
The new series is being developed by Gil Adler, a producer on the original HBO series, and Andrew Cosby, best known for his work on Eureka. The hour-long series will be based on the comics. Unlike it’s predecessor, the new series will not follow the anthology format, but will follow a standard series format using the characters in an ongoing storyline format.
Those of you who read the original comic books will see this is a strange turn of events as the comics didn’t have much in the way of returning characters. Other than The Crypt-Keeper, The Vault-Keeper and The Old Witch, all other characters and the “victims” of the stories always changed. It is also being reported that The Crypt-Keeper, The Vault-Keeper and The Old Witch are not going to be part of the new series.
The original HBO series, which spawned collectibles and movies through out the 90s, ran for seven seasons. It attracted an impressive stable of directors and actors including Robert Zemeckis, Dan Aykroyd, Steve Buscemi, Tim Curry, Whoopi Goldberg, Teri Hatcher, Kirk Douglas, Joe Pesci, Brad Pitt, Ewan McGregor, Malcom McDowell, Bob Hoskins, Brooke Sheilds, Benicio Del Toro, Demi Moore, Martin Sheen, Richard Donner, Walter Hill, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks, William Friedkin, Tobe Hoober and Michael J. Fox.

Hard to believe, but it has been over 10 years since we have had a theatrical release starring The Muppets. That film was Muppets in Space and had a pretty stellar (no pun intended) cast for 1999 with names like Jeffrey Tambor, David Arquette, Andie MacDowell, Ray Liotta, and Rob Schneider joining in the felt wackiness.
Hard to believe it, but it looks like Jason Segel may actually be able to top that cast with the list of cameos for his upcoming Muppets film, tentatively titled The Greatest Muppets Movie Ever Made.
Just to drop a few names, the film promises to have appearances from Emily Blunt, Zach Galifiniakis, Neil Patrick Harris, Ed Helms, Jack Black, Danny Trejo, Amy Adams, Ricky Gervais, Katy Perry, Donald Glover, Whoopi Goldberg, and dozens of other names.
Needless to say, that title may just fit this film. The very first poster has arrived for the unnamed project, and much like the tagline in it, the film is much closer than you think, as the current release date is set for November 23rd of this year.
Check out the full poster after the jump, and be sure to keep it here as we bring you more news on the upcoming film.

Those who were able to get out to the theaters over the past week to catch Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D got a glimpse of the brand new trailer for the third installment of the franchise Toy Story 3. The trailer is now online, and it may have just been worth the 11 year wait.
The film picks up years after 1999’s Toy Story 2. Andy has grown up, and is now heading off to college. He realizes he won’t be able to bring his beloved toys with him, so he’s forced to sell them to the highest bidder. It just so happens that the bidder is a local day care with unruly kids.
The toys decide to rebel and attempt an escape in what looks to be a great revisiting of the beloved characters. Though Jim Varney has passed way, everybody else is back for the ride this time, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, John Ratzenberger, Don Rickles, and Wallace Shawn. Joining the cast this time is Michael Keaton, R. Lee Ermey, Bonnie Hunt, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Catch Toy Story 3 in theaters June 18, 2010. Watch the brand new extended trailer after the jump.
