HTC Droid Incredible Update Coming Soon, Reportedly Adds Awesome New Features

Are you a user of the the awesome and, well, incredible HTC Droid Incredible? Are you a little jealous of your iPhone 4 using friends who get to record video in 720p or of other smartphone users who can create hotspots with their devices? If so, time to forget those concerns and get happy.

HTC has confirmed an OTA update is on the way for the Droid Incredible that will not only fix a few security and grounding issues it will also, if the following pic is be believed, enable the device to create mobile hotspots and, wait for it, unlock the capability to record video in 720p HD, just like the upcoming DROID X. The update will also reportedly change the boot screen to the new Droid eye, as seen in the video we’ve got for you.

If the update actually unlocks these features, it’s not that surprising. HTC wants to make sure it can compete with the iPhone 4 and DROID X, so having this functionality up it’s sleeve and able to be unlocked via an update at an opportune time goes a long way to ensuring that.

Check out the video and pic after the jump. We’ll keep you informed on this update and also let us know if you get it and if it really adds this functionality.

‘Community’ Star Alison Brie Joins ‘Scream 4’

In addition to the recent casting of Adam Brody and Marley Shelton in Wes Craven’s Scream 4, we can also add one of our favorite actresses from one of our favorite shows: Alison Brie of NBC’s hit show Community. And we couldn’t be happier about it.

Brie joins a host of young acting talent lining up to be slashed in the Dimension Films reboot of the franchise including Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella and Erik Knudsen. In addition, as we mentioned earlier, surviving original franchise stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox also will return for the film.

In the film Brie will play Rebecca, the ambitions person assistant to Campbell’s character who secretly envies her boss’ reluctant fame and fortune. Do we sense a catfight brewing? Perhaps.

Filming on Scream 4 recently began in Michigan with the intent of an April 15th, 2011 release. You can bet we’ll be following this one closely.

Exclusive Interview: ‘Community”s Yvette Nicole Brown Talks ‘Modern Warfare’ Episode, Comic-Con

While on the red carpet of Universal Studio’s King Kong 360 3D premiere I happened upon the very lovely and enthusiastic Yvette Nicole Brown of NBC’s Community.  I thought that by the time she made it on over to us, she’d be bored silly of talking about a big, gruff gorilla with bad morning breath, so we talked Comic-Con instead.

Upon meeting the lively actress I couldn’t help but ask about my favorite TV episode of the entire year: Community’s “Modern Warfare. ” It was the best action movie spoof I have seen in quite some time.   She joyfully agreed.   I know many a guy who loves to quote from movies, and after watching “Modern Warfare,” I couldn’t help but quote from it with maniacal glee.  One quote in particular sums it up, “Checkmate bitches! And tell the Drama Club their tears will be real today.”

We also talked about the blessed event known as Comic-Con.  She will be a Comic-Con newbie this year.  So, all those who make it to the mic to ask questions at the Community panel, I ask you be gentle.

Watch and enjoy the interview after the jump and keep on watching The Flickcast, because you never know what stars might pop up.

Apple Releases Statement on iPhone 4 Reception Issue, Promises Fix

In an unusual move, it would seem Apple has decided to acknowledge at least one of the reported issues with the iPhone 4 and address them in public. Today the company issued a statement regarding reception issues with the new device.

The statement, which is in the format of a letter, cites the “formula” Apple uses to “calculate how many bars of signal strength to display” being “totally wrong.” It also went on to say that most mobile phones would have their signal strength affected and reduced by “one or more bars” when they are gripped in certain ways.

Finally, the company promised a fix for this issue via a free software update, which will come “in a few weeks.” Well, for a company that rarely, if ever, says it has problems with anything it produces, this is a move of a different sort. I guess Apple really does care about customers, right? Right.

Check out the full press release after the break and if you’re an iPhone 4 user with signal issues, help is apparently on the way. The real question is, do you believe it?

E3 2010 XTRA: Activision E3 Preview Event Videos

Part of what makes E3 so great is that the event isn’t just about business. It’s about having fun too. (And yes, I agree that anyone who complains about working in video games not being fun is nuts.) But even still, sometimes developers and journalists (and celebrities) need to unwind a little bit at industry events such as the Activision E3 Preview event which was held Monday night in the Staples Center.

Our own Chris Ulrich was present for the event where he got to see live performances from Jane’s Addiction, Usher, Rhea, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, N.E.R.D., Soundgarden, Rhianna and Eminem. Eminem performed his track, “Won’t Back Down” to the trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops where explosions in the arena coincided with those on screen. Even Tony Hawk came down to announce his new game Tony Hawk: Shred amidst the gigantic halfpipe that was built in the middle of the Staples Center.

In addition to Chris, celebs Paris Hilton, Seth Green and comic book icon Stan “The Man” Lee walked the red carpet for the event.

Check out some video preparing for the event, some of the performances as well as interviews with Stan, Paris, Usher, Dave Navaro, Perry Farrell and Tony Hawk talking about the video game industry and how it affects them.

Review: ‘The Last Airbender’

How the mighty have fallen.  In 1999, M. Knight Shyamalan was poised to become Hollywood’s next great director. His breakout hit The Sixth Sense energized audiences with its iconic twist and fresh premise.  Some maintain that he peaked with that first film, although he went on to make Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water, and The Happening.

Even though his latest movies have not fared well critically, I have held out hope that he could recapture some of the magic we saw in the early days of his career.  The Last Airbender took those hopes, smashed them to the ground, and pissed on the ashes.  I was stupefied that someone so talented had actually made such a piece of junk. I’m still reeling.

Before I go further, I would like to make it clear to fans of the series that this is a critique of the movie, not the series. I have always believed that even if a movie is based on source material, the movie should speak for itself, and be worthy of a watch based on its own merit.  A lot of people go see movies based on books, comics, and other source material, and a movie should be accessible to anyone who buys a ticket, whether they know the source material or not.

This film is a dismal failure when it comes to storytelling, direction, acting, set design, and the post-production 3-D, and it cannot possibly do justice to the animated series upon which it was based.  I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about it, but you won’t cull that knowledge from this movie adaptation.

Thirty minutes into the film, I had no clue what it is about. Worse still, I didn’t care to find out.  Not because I’m lazy, but because the script is so convoluted and did such a poor job of convincing me that there was anything compelling to the story.
