Everything You Need to Know About the XBox One

x-box-one-wide

Witht the release of Microsoft’s XBox One just two weeks away, the anticipation is, of course, building. Not that fans of the console need another reason to be excited, but Microsoft has gone ahead and given them one (or more) anyway.

How, you may ask? Well, the company has released an extensive video tour of the new console. The hands-on walkthrough with the Xbox One is over 12 minutes and includes a thorough look at the new Windows 8-like dashboard which many people (including this writer) aren’t that crazy about.

Microsoft also takes an in-depth look at gaming, multitasking, app-switching, the new Kinect, voice commands, automatic sign-in, Skype integration and a whole lot more.

With both the One and the PS4 vying for our hard-earned dollars, this video definitely helps inch the One into the lead as to which console we’re going to buy first. That is, if we can find one.

The Xbox One launches on Friday, November 22nd, and will cost $499.99 bundled with a controller and the new Kinect system. Check out the video after the break.

Here’s a Teaser for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special ‘Day of the Doctor’

the-day-of-the-doctor

We don’t usually believe in releasing teasers right before actual trailers. It’s mostly kinda lame. However, when the teaser in question just happens to be about the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, we make an exception.

With just 15 days to go before the 50th anniversary, BBC America has got quite a few things going on that will lead up to the global simulcast of the anniversary special, Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor. Starting on November 18t, the channel will run marathons and primetime specials including a look into the science behind the series, a look back at departing Time Lord Matt Smith‘s tenure, and Smith and David Tennant will be guests on The Graham Norton Show.

On November 22nd, BBC America will premiere the new Doctor Who film, An Adventure In Space And Time, which documents the genesis of the character and gives insight into his enduring popularity. They will also release a full trailer for Day Of The Doctor, which stars Smith, Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt, tomorrow.

Until then, here’s a little taste of what you can expect. After the break, of course.

Whiskey & Waffles Take a Look at ‘Thor: The Dark World’

thor-the-dark-world-hemsworth-1

Last night we went to an early showing of Thor: The Dark World and there are definitely some split opinions from the Whiskey & Waffles team on this one. In the video after the break, you’ll see WallE’s take on it.

A for me, I will say I didn’t dislike Thor: The Dark World. It is a solid enough super hero movie, along the same lines as Iron Man 3 and certainly better than the abomination that was The Wolverine. There are some fun moments but two things really stood out that got in my way of fully embracing the movie(and don’t worry, I’ll keep it spoiler free).

TV RECAP: ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Episode 106: ‘The Sin Eaters’

Sleepy Hollow 106 Pic

Abbie and Crane attend a local Little League baseball game. Abbie yells at the umpire, and tells Crane how baseball is like life. After the game, Crane insists on walking home, and stops to visit his wife’s grave along the way. He is shot with a tranquilizer dart and abducted.

Abbie is driving home and is thrown into a dream or vision where she is in a very old house. She hears a baby crying, and is then chased by the Horseman. Abbie runs into another room and sees what look to be witches doing spells of some sort.

Katrina appears to Abbie and tells her this is an echo of her and Crane’s house. Katrina knows Crane is in trouble because she cannot sense him, this is why she came to Abbie. Abbie needs to find something called a sin eater to help Crane sever his blood tie to the Horseman. The Horseman will be coming tonight, and she needs to get Crane sanctified before he arrives.

Crane wakes up in and is surrounded by men in suits. (The main man is played by the actor who plays Eric Renard on Grimm).  So he potentially died on Friday night on NBC, and is now on Sleepy Hollow on Fox on Monday. It turns out these men are Freemasons, the same as Crane was.

A New ‘Robocop’ Trailer Has Arrived

robocop-2014-2

Even with all the news of Marvel and Disney today (don’t worry, Chris and Joe will talk all about it in the podcast this week), we can’t forget other things dropping today. One of these things is a brand new trailer for Robocop from Sony.

The reboot, directed by Jose Padilha, stars The Killing‘s Joel Kinnaman as the detective-turned-crime-fighting cyborg. Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish and Jay Baruchel co-star.

Look for it to arrive on February 12, 2014. Uh oh, February. Let’s hope that release date doesn’t mean what we think it could mean.

Anyway, check out the trailer after the break.

TV RECAP: ‘The Walking Dead’ Episode 404: ‘Indifference’

Carlost.net

Carol will be going on a run with Rick for supplies. Lizzie tells Carol that she is glad people come back after they die, because at least they are something. Carol tells Lizzie to fight her fear, and not to be afraid to kill. Meanwhile Rick is either imagining how Carol killed Karen and David, or he actually saw her do it and said nothing. It was hard to tell what picture they were trying to paint.

Tyreese escaped the zombie horde unhurt, but he is clearly not ok. He is convinced everyone back at the prison is already dead, and is displaying some erratic and violent behavior. The gang finds a car covered in branches near a repair shop, and Tyreese’s hasty actions almost gets them killed by walkers.

Michonne can’t understand why Tyreese wouldn’t let go of the walker that had a hold of him. She doesn’t know if he’s trying to get himself killed or what. She tells him that being angry makes you stupid, and being stupid gets you killed.

Daryl finds a battery in the shop, and is putting it into the car as Bob watches on. Bob explains that he was the only survivor of two previous groups, and that his need for booze is what caused the shelves to go down in the store when Zach was killed.

Comikaze 2013: Stan Lee Introduces ‘Superhero Ball Wars’

Ball Wars

At Comikaze 2013 Stan “The Man” Lee was on hand to announce on of his newest ventures: Stan Lee’s Superhero Ball Wars. The series of apps, set to release starting in 2014, will be available first for iPhone and iPad and later for Android devices.

The game centers on the characters from the planet Ballo whose citizens are, as Lee says, “well-rounded.” But the Inflators are the superheroes of planet and they are the ones who must fight off an invasion by the evil Deflators. Earthlings are called to help in the battle by collecting heroes and deflecting villains.

The augmented reality aspect of Superhero Ball Wars allows you to hold up your device while the app is running and actually locate Ballo in the sky. You can also lock the game to play without moving your phone or tablet around above you. Once you have Ballo in your sights, characters and objects start flying towards you. Each of the 15 missions requires you to collect a specific character, including Professor Ballkenstan (Lee in Ballo form), while deflecting or avoid other objects and characters.
