You don’t really need it because who cares about the plot, but here it is anyway.
In The Expendables 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans.
Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.
And yes, a ton of stuff blows up and all of these dudes keep on kicking ass. Well, as much as they can at their age. Nobody wants to break a hip.
Check out the trailer (more of a teaser really) after the break. Expendables 3 arrives August 15, 2014.

This week on The Flickcast Chris and Joe once again dig deep into all the geek news, views, and more, you could possibly need. The boys kick it off this time around with a discussion on “Blockbuster” screenwriting and movies and the recent interview with writer Damon Lindelof.
There’s also more discussion on Expendables 3 and the final casting for the movie and the success and relative merits of World War Z. Then, they shift gears and talk about who should play Batman in the next movie now that Christian Bale is out. Who do they like? You’ll just have to listen.
They also get into other topics like the absurd charms of the movie Olympus Has Fallen, a recent fan poll ranking Star Trek movies that put Into Darkness last, even after the parody movie Galaxy Quest, recent leaks of trailers for X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy, the current state of sci-fi movies and a whole lot more.
This weeks picks include Joe’s pick of the A&E TV series Longmire and Chris’ pick of the recent sci-fi movie Europa Report.

This week on The Flickcast Chris and Joe are back once again and ready to dig deep into all the geek news, and more, you could possibly stand. The boys kick it off once again with more discussion on the latest actor to play the iconic Doctor in Doctor Who. He’s Peter Capaldi and the boys wonder: is he a good choice and what will happen to the show now?
They also get into other topics like Broadchurch, the latest BBC drama to to the States starring former Doctor David Tennant, Harrison Ford (and others) jumping onto the Expendables bandwagon for Expendables 3, Johnny Depp’s criticisms of critics, “Blockbuster Fatigue”, and, of course, the usual other geeky stuff.
The boys also made some picks this week including Joe’s pick of the Blu-ray of the sci-fi movie Oblivion
and Chris’ pick of a new, shiny piece of tech called the Google Chromecast.

The concept behind The Expendables is admirable, mix together as many bad ass action super stars from the last three decades of film into one franchise. The cast list of the first film read like a who’s who of the greatest action talent, even going so far as to feature Arnold and Willis in cameos.
The second film, out this Friday, uped the ante with the original cast returning along with full roles for The Arnold, Bruce Willis and even Van Damme. As great as that group is how do you top it? Total Film had a chance to talk to the film’s producer Avi Lerner to ask that very question:
We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]… And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]”
Wow, talk about reaching for the stars. Who knows if they will actually nail any of those guys, but it is good to see the producers won’t consider any action icon to big to approach. Which begs the question, when will they give Mel Gibson a call?
You can check out The Expendables 2 this week and stay tuned to The Flickcast for any testosterone riddled casting updates in the future.
