A Pixar Film Set Around Dia de los Muertos, Yes Please
Pixar has set into a pretty stead pattern of releasing one film a year. This summer we have Brave to look forward too, and next year brings us Monsters University. But what about 2014 and beyond? Worry not, Pixar is not letting up anytime soon.
Variety is reporting that Pixar has come clean on several projects targeted for 2014 and 2015:
Pixar has announced its latest project in development, setting a 2015 release target for a toon based on the Mexican holiday of Dio de los Muertos… Other Pixar news from Las Vegas: The studio has titled its dino pic “The Good Dinosaur,” set for May 30, 2014; and has dated its “Untitled Pixar Movie that Takes You Inside the Mind” for June 19, 2015.
So The Good Dinosaur for 2014 and a potential double dip in 2015. What is most exciting is the news of the newly announced film that is based on the Day of the Dead. There is a wealth of culture and history to be mined out of the Mexican holiday, and of all the studios willing to go down that hole, Pixar is by far the most capable of giving it the proper due.
We here at The Flickcast will keep a close eye on this future project, but in the mean time we can all brace for the potential awesomness that is Brave this summer.
Happy Labor Day 2011
Today is a holiday here in the United States which honors those who, well, labor. So, to commemorate this great feat, we will be giving the fine folks who write this site the day off. Expect to see a few articles today, but not as many as we usually bring you.
Of course, if something major happens, we will bring it to you. Otherwise, expect our usual brand of humor, articles, interviews, reviews and more to return refreshed and ready to roll tomorrow.
We wish you a happy holiday and we’ll see you on the other side.
Happy 4th of July
As many of you know, it’s a holiday weekend here in the U S of A. That means all around the country people are getting together for food, fun, sun and the adult beverages of their choice to celebrate our independence day.
This seemed like as good a weekend as any to give the hard working staff here at The Flickcast some much deserved time off. We’ve got quite a few things coming up over the next few months, including the big one called Comic-Con in San Diego, so we’re going to take it easy this weekend.
Consequently, our posting schedule over the weekend and on Monday, the actual 4th of July, will be much lighter than usual. If a big story breaks, we’ll bring it to you. Otherwise, we’ll be back to our version of normal on Tuesday, July 5th.
Happy 4th of July weekend to those of you who celebrate it. For the rest, enjoy your weekend.
To add to the fun, we’ve included a little video to help set the mood. Click through to check it out.
Thanks for reading and we’ll see you on Tuesday.

Select Muppets Help You Get Into The Holiday Spirit
We’re in what most fans like to call a “Muppet Lull” right now. Hard to believe, but The Muppets haven’t been in theaters since 1999, when Muppets in Space was panned by critics. Sure, we’ve been given a few TV movies to snack on in the past few years, but they barely hold a candle to the originality of The Great Muppet Caper or Muppets Take Manhattan.
Then, suddenly about six months ago, a few Muppet viral videos started popping up on YouTube, in which the famed Waldorf and Statler would comment on certain “new” and “hip” Internet fads. Those videos became instant hits, and Muppet Studios started putting out more and more.
As of late, on of their more popular videos surfaced in the mainstream, in the form of a “Bohemian Rhapsody” spoof. The video tallied over 20 million views, and the faith in the Muppet generation was immediately revitalized.
Last week, the epic studio released a new holiday song. Carol of the Bells, in Muppet form. Starring some of the fan favorites that aren’t necessarily the A-list characters; Swedish Chef, Animal, and Beaker. Check out the new video below, and if this doesn’t get you into the holiday spirit, nothing will.

NBC To Air ‘SNL Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas’
In news that shouldn’t really be happening, it looks like NBC is taking one of it’s less popular Saturday Night Live skits and producing a 30-minute Christmas special around the character. “Gilly” is a Kristin Wiig character that started a few months back about a troublemaker in gradeschool who constantly causes damage to her fellow classmates. The skit is meant to be a spoof of old-time comic strips such as “Little Lulu”.
According to the Associated Press, the show will be a standard clip show with many old SNL holiday skits, all hosted by Gilly.
“SNL Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas” will air Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. The two-hour special, the first for “SNL” since 2002, will be led by Wiig’s Gilly, an ever-smiling Annie-lookalike who delights in violent mischief. The special will feature new sketches with Gilly and highlights of classic holiday “SNL” sketches…

Happy Thanksgiving
Here in the United States, where our intrepid team work daily to bring you the best in content covering movies, tv, comics, games and all things geek, it is a holiday week. Thanksgiving is just around the corner (in fact, tomorrow) so that means many of The Flickcast team will be joining family to celebrate this event. That also means that due to the holiday we will have a somewhat limited posting schedule.
This is only temporary, of course, and in a few days we will resume our usual frantic posting pace brining you all kinds of new and cool coverage of your favorite movies, tv shows, games, comics and more. Until then, be sure to check out upcoming articles from some of our contributors who don’t live in the States, which we will be bringing you during the rest of the week. Also, take a look at some of our recent articles by clicking in the list on the right of this column.
We will be back to business as usual on Monday, November 30th. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at The Flickcast.
Feature Trailer For ‘Avatar’ Hits The Web
Christmas has always been a big time for movies. Whether it’s a Harry Potter film or one of the Lord of The Rings films, there is almost always an epic film around that time, and James Cameron will be dominating that slot this year with Avatar.
We’ve had quite a bit of coverage on the film here at the site, but we’re happy that the first full-length trailer has gone live. It will officially go live on Sunday during Fox’s NFL programming, and expect to see plenty of TV spots airing after that.
We got a chance to see the first few minutes of the trailer a few months ago, and the film looks absolutely stunning. Cameron has taken over a decade to make this film revolutionize the world of theatrical film and 3D, and you can definitely tell that it’s going to be worth it.
Check out the full length trailer, courtesy of Yahoo, after the jump, and be sure to catch Avatar when it hits theaters on December 18th.
