We’re big fans of the Marvel series we’ve seen so far on Netflix. Starting with Daredevil, through Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, each series builds on the previous one and seems to get better and better. And now, with the release of its first full trailer, we’re feeling pretty confidant Iron Fist will be added to the list.
Billed as the final piece of The Defenders puzzle, Iron Fist follows the exploits of Danny Rand, recently returned to New York after many years thought dead, and possessing extraordinary material arts prowess. In short, he’s back and ready to clean up the streets, with a little help from his friends and his, well, iron fist. Cool.
Check out the latest trailer after the break. Look for Iron Fist to arrive on Netflix on March 17th.

Coulson lives! Take that evil dudes from another dimension, or anyone else with an attitude that needs adjusting. You know who you are.
Anyway, you might have heard ABC is bringing Joss Whedon’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to the small screen in the Fall. Yes? Okay, good.
Earlier, they dropped a short bit of teaser during an episode of Once Upon a Time. Now, there’s a much longer version for you to enjoy.
Don’t worry, you will. This looks pretty great.
Check it out after the break. Look for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tuesdays this Fall on ABC.

Disney XD will premiere its new animated series Ultimate Spider-Man on Sunday, April 1 as part of its new Marvel Universe line. The show was developed by Marvel Head of Television Jeph Loeb, Marvel CCO Joe Quesada, Paul Dini (“Batman: The Animated Series”), Man of Action Studios, and long-time Ultimate Spider-man scribe Brian Michael Bendis.
Ultimate Spider-Man stars Drake Bell (“Drake and Josh”) as a teenage Peter Parker trying to fit in at high school while secretly working with other heroes at S.H.I.E.L.D. Fans of Marvel’s film canon will recognize the voices of JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson.
Enjoying success with Marvel Animation’s Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Disney XD is planning on launching an entire Marvel Universe programming block with Ultimate Spider-Man as its keystone.

Since the announcement that Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment over a year ago, we the fans have been waiting to see exactly how that would effect us, because really, it’s all about us. We haven’t seen any mega-crossovers like Daredevil the Pooh or Spider-Mouse, but it looks like Disney may just be pulling some weight by bringing a few Marvel titles to your TV screen.
After a presentation on the Disney lot, Marvel has put together a short list of properties that they are looking to bring to TV in the next few years. On the very top of that list is a live action Hulk series, helmed by comic veteran Jeph Loeb, who most know for his work on NBC’s Heroes.
Hulk could go into production over at ABC as early as mid-summer. Next in line, the plan is to work on a series based on the Cloak & Dagger franchise, which would go straight to ABC’s cable network, ABC Family. The story would follow the duo of Tyrone Johnson (aka Cloak, who has the ability to teleport) and Tandy Bowen (aka Dagger, who has the ability to heal and create daggers from light).
Both shows are in very early development, but that hasn’t stopped the studio from poking around a handful of other properties to adapt into the small screen. Heat Vision has the short list.
Executives presented ABC suits with a list of titles they identified as possible series:
• Heroes for Hire (focusing on ex-con Luke Cage offering to take on bad guys for a price);
• The Eternals (a race of superpowered beings live amid humanity in secret, inspiring legends);
• Agents of Atlas, Alter Ego (private investigator Jessica Jones takes on cases involving superhumans);
• Moon Knight, the Red Hood (a low-rent criminal discovers a cloak that gives him superpowers);
• Ka-Zar (a Tarzan-type and his saber-toothed tiger must journey to the concrete jungle to seek justice);
• Daughters of the Dragon (a dynamic female duo, one with a bionic arm and the other a granddaughter of a samurai, open a private-detective agency); and
• The Punisher (one man wages a war on crime; already adapted as two feature films).
Even given Hulk and Cloak & Dagger, this is an incredible list, and could only mean that Warner/DC and Disney/Marvel have decided that the silver screen wasn’t large enough for them to wage war, and they’re now taking over our living rooms. In any outcome, we all win.

DC’s animated home video department has been on a role as of late. Since last year, they’ve turned out films following Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and even a few ansillary characters such as Jonah Hex and The Spectre. The quality of the films have seemingly increased exponentially and the next film, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse looks to continue that trend.
The film follows the Superman/Batman: Supergirl story arc from books by Jeph Loeb, Michael Turner, and Peter Steigerwald and gets another all-star cast of Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tim Daly as Superman, Summer Glau as Supergirl, and Andre Braugher as Darkseid. For those not in the know, here’s the lowdown from the press release.
In Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, a spaceship splashes down in Gotham City Harbor — leading Batman and Superman to encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as those of the Man of Steel. The Kryptonian is soon revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, who takes her under his wing to educate her about the ways of Earth. However, the villainous Darkseid has other plans.
Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. It’s up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but they’ll have to take the fight to Darkseid within his hostile world – where unknown, deadly threats lurk around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian able to match Superman blow-for-blow.
The film drops on DVD and Blu-Ray September 28th, but before that, we’ve got two brand new clips for you to check out after the jump, so get to it!

Though this week’s Comic-Con has plenty of news about upcoming film and TV projects, it’s good to see that the world of comics still has a place at the show. Marvel, DC, and countless other publishers still take time to present upcoming events to their legions of diehard fans, and just about anybody who has anything to do with the comic world is in attendance.
One of those names, who actually crosses over from the world of comics and TV, is Jeph Loeb. Not only has he worked on several episodes of NBC’s Heroes, but he’s also currently the main writer for Marvel’s Ultimate X series.
We got to catch up with Jeph yesterday, and chat him up about his most recent comic favorites, future projects, and even which types of books he prefers to work on. Check out our interview with him after the jump, and stay with us all weekend for more news straight from the floor of San Diego Comic-Con 2010.

In not entirely surprising news, Marvel Entertainment has appointed Jeph Loeb as Executive Vice President, Head of Television, a newly created division of Marvel Entertainment. In this new role, Mr. Loeb will work alongside Dan Buckley, Publisher & President of the Print, Animation & Digital Divisions, Marvel Worldwide, Inc., to translate Marvel’s popular characters and stories to the television medium, in both live-action and animation formats.
In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Loeb will oversee the development and distribution of live-action, animated and direct-to-DVD series. Mr. Loeb was previously a Marvel-exclusive Eisner-Award-winning comic book writer and an Emmy-nominated writer for his work on NBC’s Heroes. The announcement was made today by Alan Fine, Executive Vice President, Office of the President and Chairman of Marvel Studios’ Creative Committee, and by Mr. Buckley, to whom Mr. Loeb will report.
Mr. Fine stated, “It’s with tremendous pride that I announce the creation of our Marvel Television division and the appointment of Jeph Loeb as Executive Vice President. His work in the comic book field is in a class of its own, showing his passion and talent for bringing Marvel’s finest characters to life in an innovative manner. Jeph’s work on multiple award-winning television series and popular films has shown fans worldwide his ability to deliver thrilling entertainment in a number of media. With Jeph as our EVP, fans will experience the highest quality and most exciting television projects featuring their favorite Marvel characters.”
“I couldn’t be happier to accept this new position at Marvel Entertainment, working with both Dan and Alan to deliver exciting, cutting edge television projects,” said Mr. Loeb. “Marvel continues to break new ground in storytelling in both their comic book and film ventures, so, along with everyone here, I’m excited to bring the same brand of excitement into homes across the globe.”

As we often do, we like to bring you previews of upcoming movies, tv shows and games. We also like to showcase upcoming comics we’re really looking forward to. Case in point is Marvel’s soon to be released second issue of Ultimate Comics X. Written by Jeph Loeb and Arthur Adams, the second issue continues the story and begins to answer the question that everyone is asking: Who, or what, is Ultimate X?
It’s not just us who are pretty excited about this book. Other critics are also raving. Here’s a sampling of what they have to say:
“This is the archetypical comic story that some readers will one day point back to and say, ‘That was the single greatest issue I ever read.’…Adams turns in phenomenally detailed yet buoyantly composed art as only Arthur Adams can deliver it”- Doug Zawisza, ComicBookResources.Com
“The book lives up to its opening promise of a more hopeful and optimistic story, providing a very human character portrait of a new Ultimate character”—Dave Wallace, ComicsBulletin.Com
“This is Loeb at the top of his game”—Lee Newman, BrokenFrontier.Com
Ultimate Comics X #2 hits comic book store shelves April 7th. In the meantime, be sure to check out all the preview pages after the jump.

Buffy’s got a brand new bag, Superman makes his pitch for “World’s Greatest Detective” and the Sentry gets to the heart of the matter in this latest edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! As always, WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.
PULL OF THE WEEK:
Buffy The Vampire Slayer #32
Dark Horse Comics – $2.99 US
Writer: Brad Meltzer
Artist: Georges Jeanty
Score: 9/10
While the ongoing war against Twilight hits a lull, Buffy and Xander take the break to examine the Slayer’s new power set, much to Dawn’s chagrin. Meanwhile, Giles – along with Faith and Andrew – find themselves in Twilight’s grip and Willow makes a horrifying discovery.
Best-selling author Brad Meltzer – no stranger to comics – kicks off the “Twilight” story arc with this issue in a round-about way. Twilight himself doesn’t factor into the story much, but Meltzer took the “maximum fun” approach in setting up the pieces via tiny revelations sprinkled throughout the issue while focusing on Buffy’s new powers. The result is an incredibly enjoyable read that’s sure to please virtually any fan of comics or comics-related media.
Artist Georges Jeanty continues to pump out the work that has become the glue that holds everything together for this series, and this latest issue is no different. The scenes involving Buffy and Xander, especially, were a hoot, and how could you not love Buffy hovering in mid-air while asking the General to step outside? If this issue doesn’t symbolize having fun while making a comic, I don’t know what will.
Other issues came close – it was a really good week for comics – but this issue took home the Pull of the Week title thanks to an offering that was part major story arc launch and part open love letter to comics; it’s been quite some time that a comic has made me smile this much.
