The Flickcast – Episode 201: Oscar Predictions!

oscars-2013-1

Yes, that’s right. After a bit of time apart to “find themselves” and/or work on solo projects, Chris and Matt are back together again for an all-new season of The Flickcast.

And to kick things off, the boys talk all-things Oscar and make some predictions about who and what will take home the gold guy during Sunday’s festivities. Plus, they take a bit of a detour through the upcoming Star Wars movies and the various casting rumors as well as the most recent installment of the Die Hard franchise.

Hopefully you won’t be too disappointed but Chris and Matt don’t make any picks this time around, mostly because they don’t know if that bit is going to continue. So that means you don’t have to link to anything this week.

However, if you do want the picks bit to continue, let us know via the comments. And, if you have any other comments or suggestions about the show, feel free to let us know that too.

Look for brand new episodes of The Flickcast right here each and every week!

Megan Fox Cast In Michael Bay’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’

megan-fox-ninja-turtles-1

They said it couldn’t happen. They said Megan Fox and Michael Bay would never work together again. They say a lot of things. . . and they’re are often wrong.

That’s right, the on-again, off-again, on-again updated version of The Teenage Mutant Nnija Turtles is apparently on again. And this time, it’s got casting news.

Producer Michael Bay confirmed via his Blog that Megan Fox will be joining the movie and we would guess, taking on the role of April O’Neil. Seems likely at least.

So, it would appear they’ve patched up their differences and are moving forward. That’s nice. Now if they can just decide if the Turtles are actually aliens or just look that way.

I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ve heard of this. Who knows, it could be off-again just as fast as it was on. Hey, we can always hope, right?

FX Gives ‘The Americans’ Another Season

the-americans-poster-1

Our interest in FX’s original series The Americans was first piqued after seeing the cool promo art and other materials for the show. Plus, it features a great cast in Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys and comes from some great writers/producers in Graham Yost, Gavin O’Connor and CIA agent turned creator/writer Joe Weisberg.

So, we gave it a chance. And our chance was rewarded. It’s a very good show and we’re enjoying it quite a bit.

Imagine our happiness, then, when we heard the news that FX is renewing the series. That’s right, just four weeks into its first season the cold war drama has been given a seond season of 13 episodes.

“The Americans has quickly established itself as a key part FX’s acclaimed drama line-up,” FX president John Landgraf said in a statement. We couldn’t agree more.

Check This Out: A Preview of IFC’s New Animated Series ‘Out There’

Out-There-IFC

We like quirky, and so should you. It’s fun and often ends up giving us some insight into the human condition while also being entertaining. That’s a good thing.

And speaking of quirky (see what we did there?) IFC has a new show premiering tomorrow night (Friday) called Out There and we gotta say, it looks pretty interesting — and yes, quirky.

We’ve got a little preview for the series after the jump, so be sure and check that out. Also, in case you were wondering, here’s some info about the show itself:

The ten episode series chronicles the socially awkward Chad Stevens and his best friend, Chris Novak. Living in the small town of Holford in the middle of nowhere, the boys wander the surreal, bleak landscape waiting out their last few years of high school and discovering that growing up is weird to do.

OP-ED: My Reaction to the PlayStation 4 Announcement

Dual Shock 4 Controller

So yesterday at 6 pm EST, the world was first introduced to the worst kept secret in gaming, the PlayStation 4. At this point, I feel like all the “leaks” aren’t even that but carefully planned PR releases as “sources” trickle out information, some accurate and some inaccurate, to various online entities. Most of what was announced for the PlayStation 4 in terms of hardware was what we had already heard.

No surprise, the PlayStation 4 is going for power, as it should. The PlayStation hardcore take a lot of pride in the power of their system and will always use that in the unending PlayStation vs. XBox argument. But this time Sony took a lesson from the missteps of the PlayStation 3 and are focusing more on working with developers instead of just creating a powerful box for them to work with and wishing them the best of luck.

Gaming Trailers: ‘Tyranny of King Washington: The Infamy’ DLC for ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ Out Now

Crazy George Washington Assassin's Creed III

The other day when looking back at the proud leaders of this great nation, I opted to shy away from the fantastic portrayal of General turned King George Washington in the alternate history DLC of Assassin’s Creed. But after showing proper respect two whole days ago and the DLC releasing, it doesn’t seem right to not share the launch trailer for “Tyranny of King Washington: The Infamy” DLC which hit the digital marketplace yesterday.

In this trailer, the question is posed about what would have actually happened to General Washington had he not stepped down as President at the end of the Revolutionary War. In this alternate timeline, Washington is corrupted by his power and declares himself king and it looks like it is up to Connor to stop him.
