This is cool. Although, if you don’t want to know how the magic is done and take a look behind the curtain, you may not want to watch. For the rest of you, here’s a video look from visual effects company Stargate Studios at their work on the latest season of The Walking Dead.
In addition to all the great zombie smashing and blood splattering, we also love what they did with the prison and how they made it look way more impressive, and messed up, than it actually is.
In short, these folks are pretty great at what they do. Enjoy the video after the break and be impressed.
“You kill or you die. Or you die and you kill.” – The Governor
The Governor has tied up Milton and is beating him. He knows Milton burned the walkers. 8 men died because of Milton (according to the Governor). Milton agreed that he was taken care of in Woodbury, but so long as he looked the other way.
The Governor tells Milton it is time for him to graduate. “You kill or you die” he tells him. The Governor wants Milton to kill Andrea. Milton goes to get the tools from the table near Andrea, and drops them on the floor, leaving one there on purpose.
Milton is not allowed to leave until he kills Andrea. He goes over towards Andrea, but then lunges at The Governor. The Governor is expecting this, however, and stabs Milton. The Governor’s actual plan is for Milton to die, turn into a zombie, and eat Andrea.
The Governor is setting up a back room with restraints and tools that are most likely going to be used for torture. Martinez is gathering artillery and men to follow The Governor to his meeting with Rick. The Governor wants options.
Milton tries to talk The Governor out of attacking Rick’s crew, to just let it go. The Governor will not forgive them for what happened to his walker daughter. Milton goes to Andrea and tells her everything. Her idea is to just kill Rick. Milton won’t let her, saying that all that will do is put Martinez in charge and nothing will be fixed.
While Andrea and Milton are talking above The Governor’s “dungeon”, he arrives. Andrea has a perfect shot to take him out, but Milton stops her. Andrea tells Milton she has to go back to prison, and wants to bring him. Milton says that he belongs at Woodbury.
Herschel, Rick, and Daryl are investigating a seemingly random location. Rick goes into an old barn and The Governor comes out of the shadows. Martinez, Milton, and Andrea show up, and Andrea is surprised to learn The Governor is already inside with Rick.
Andrea has set this up so that the two sides can establish a truce. Rick wants to split the land on either side of the river, but The Governor refuses. He wants Rick and his crew to surrender.
The Governor tells Rick that Andrea has no authority to make any truces, and makes her leave so he and Rick can talk privately. As Rick sits down at the table, it appears that he some kind of gun taped under the table pointing at the other chair.
Daryl and Merle are in the circle pit, and The Governor tells everyone that they will fight to the death, with the winner being free. Merle starts beating on Daryl, and Daryl tries to fight back.
Merle tells Daryl to go with it, and they eventually manage to push the “walkers-on-sticks” into the crowd and make a break for it. Rick and the others provide cover, and Merle and Daryl are able to escape. As they are leaving Woodbury, the gate is slightly open, and some walkers start entering the town.
While Rick’s group is out saving Daryl, the remaining members (Herschel, Carl, Carol, and Beth), try to make peace with Tyreese and his group. But, Herschel warns them, the final decision lies with Rick, not him.
There’s a new preview for the third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, which kicks off on October 14th. We’re presenting it here without much comment, other than this: We. Can’t. Wait.
With production on season three of The Walking Dead well underway, there’s been a few photos released of the production to help get fans ready for all the action. Of course, one of the photos didn’t really sit well with us, but that’s okay because these new ones are looking pretty good.
Over at Entertainment Weekly they’ve got a couple of said photos that show our heroes in action at one of the favorite locations of Walking Dead fans everywhere: the prison.
Both of the photos show our favorite band of zombie apocalypse survivors in action and also gives us a look at the prison. Surprise, it looks pretty much like a prison. Also, Maggie is a bad ass. One question though: why is Rick wearing his uniform again? Inquiring minds want to know.
Check out the other pic after the break. The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October.
Okay, to be fair, I know The Walking Dead is a television adaptation of a comic book. I also know TV has different demands and often shows don’t stay completely true to their source material. Anyone who’s read the Walking Dead comics knows the series has deviated in several significant ways. And that’s part of the deal.
However, when you have an actual visual guide as to what a very popular character is supposed to look like, it’s not too much to expect that it might be followed. Case in point is the release of what is being called the first picture of the Governor from next season’s The Walking Dead.
I’m not going to say any more and just let you look at the two pictures above and tell me if those look like the same character to you. Yeah, me either. It’s weird, they did a very good job with Michonne too.
This is what happens when you get greedy and fire your showrunner after the first season. Or, let’s hope this is just some sort of flashback and the real Governor actually makes an appearance.
(Note: This post contains mild spoilers about the season finale of The Walking Dead)
At long last, the speculation can finally be over. With the news recently that David Morrisy taking on the role of The Governor in the next season of AMC’s The Walking Dead, the other big casting question of who will play Michonne has finally been answered. That’s right, actress Danai Gurira has been cast in the role.
Most recently seen in HBO’s Treme, Gurira has wasted no time in getting into katana-wielding character. In fact, she makes a surprise appearance in the season finale of the show just in time to save the life of one of the main characters. And what an entrance it is.
If you haven’t watched the season finale yet, you’re in for a real treat. Not just due to the appearance of Michonne, however, there’s also another great reveal just as the episode ends which is sure to raise the happiness level of fans everywhere.
After a slow start and some uneven episodes this season, it’s great to see the show redeem itself the last couple weeks. In fact, the season finale is probably one of the best episodes since the pilot. Yes, it’s that good.
Sadly, we now have to wait until Fall to see new episodes. Knowing the story of The Govenor and Michonne as we do, or at least how it plays out in the comics, it will be very interesting to see how AMC handles it. Very interesting indeed.
Zombies are awesome. Be they in movies, comics, novels, video games or TV shows, we just can’t get enough of those undead sons of bitches. Obviously, that means AMC’s The Waking Deadis one of our favorite shows, especially because of the zombies but also because it’s a damn fine program.
With AMC’s panel at Comic-Con set for tomorrow, it makes sense that the network is releasing some brand new images from the second season of the series to get fans even more excited. In fact, we’ve got 9 new ones for your viewing enjoinment.
OF the images we see the usually suspects in the usual kind of danger but we also see that time and constant threat of being eaten has taken a bit of a tole on our characters. They just seem a bit more haggard this time around.
Although, if you were constantly under the threat of being eaten alive you might look a bit haggard too. Think about it.
The only other question we have is when is Rick going to finally ditch the uniform? There’s not more society dude and you’re not a deputy anymore. Just let it go. . .
The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October. Check out the rest of the photos after the jump.
One show that we’re pretty much universally in love with around The Flickcast offices is AMC’s The Walking Dead. After a hugely successful first season on the network, Frank Darabont’s adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic series promises to be even bigger and better when season two arrives.
Previously, we’ve had some bits of info about the second season including the first pic and the first teaser. Now, there’s a brand new teaser for the season which debuted during the season premiere of Breaking Bad Sunday night and we’ve got it for you right here.
In this new video we see our main man Rick Grimes in action as he deals with some unwanted attention from a couple of the undead. Needless to say he’s not a fan of them and takes care of business. Good to see him back in action.
Check out the teaser after the jump. The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October. Not. Soon. Enough.
