Okay, now we’re back on track. That’s right, two brand new episodes of The Flickcast in a row. No, no need to thank us. We just like to do nice things for you.
This week Chris and Joe take on some new topics and some old ones. Some of these include Hugh Jackman, the X-Men, the new Fantastic Four movie, St. Patrick’s Day myths and if beer is a good substitute for, well, pretty much anything. They also discuss a bunch of other stuff, but no need to go into it now. Just listen. You’ll enjoy it.
This week’s picks include Chris’ pick of the Hop Rod Rye IPA from the fine folks at Bear Republic Brewing Co. and Joe’s pick of the new TV series Crisis on NBC.
As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship, or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at Facebook, Google+ or via email.

We think it’s safe to say that Wolverine is one of the most popular comic book characters of all time. He’s just cool and that’s all you really need to say about him. His coolness continues in an upcoming comic series from Marvel called Wolverine and the X-Men. Here’s what you need to know:
Summer School is in session as world-famous mutants Wolverine, Storm, and more must educate and train the Marvel Universe’s next generation of X-Men! All-powerful inexperience mutants with the power to level cities. What could go wrong? Plus with Fantomex and Quentin Quire joining the staff – the Jean Grey School is in for a wild ride!
But with X-Men’s own lives riddled with deadly enemies and personal crises, how can they hope guide the next generation, when they can barely defend them! A new enemy lurks in the shadows, ready to strike at the heart of the Jean Grey School. And this new organization will test the faculty and students of the JGS like never before!
We’ve got preview pages for the new series. Check them out after the break. Look for Wolverine and the X-Men #1 to hit stores on March 5.

Before I go too far with this review of the Blu-ray Combo Pack release of director Dennis Villeneuve’s film Prisoners, I need to make a couple things clear. First, I’m a Hugh Jackman fan. I think he’s a very good actor who’s almost always a pleasure to watch.
Even in less-than-stellar movies, he usually stands out. That’s not to say Prisoners is one of those movies, it isn’t. It’s just so you know where I’m coming from.
The second thing I need to point out is my love of a adult drama. For a time Hollywood made a lot of these kinds of movies and they were often quite good. Occasionally, even excellent. Standouts in the past like The Fugitive, Jagged Edge and Presumed Innocent come to mind.
Plus, more recent films like Argo and Silver linings Playbook are also good examples. But most of the time the industry seems consumed with the need to make and market movies for kids and skimp on things like character or story. I worry about the future of adult drama.
Fortunately, a movie occasionally comes along that restores my faith, at least temporarily, that this art form will not be lost forever. Prisoners is one of those movies and it manages to deliver on almost every level.

There’s no doubt that one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe is Wolverine. This is true for many reasons, but a lot of it has to do with just how badass he is.
But suppose there were two Wolverines? Who would win in a fight between these two titans if they did fight? Well, you just might get a chance to see in the upcoming 20th issue of X-Men, straight from Marvel comics.
Here’s all you need to know:
Marvel is pleased to present your first look at the action-packed All-New X-Men #20, from the blockbuster creative team of Brian Michael Bendis, Brandon Peterson & Mahmud Asrar! There’s a new student at the New Xavier School – and she’s not too happy her new “campus” is housed inside a former Weapon X facility!
X-23 wants answers – and she’s not going to ask nicely. But before she gets then, she and the All-New X-Men must face down a heavily armed squad of mutant-hunting Purifiers! And Laura may just find comfort in the arms of one of her new teammates – young Cyclops of the All-New X-Men!
We’ve got preview of X-Men #20 right after the break. Look for the comic to hit shelves, and digital, on December 15th.

One of our favorite charactgers of all the Marvel Universe is Wolverine. He’s a total bad ass and also has a heart, in the right place. Naturally, when Marvel sees fit to release anything having to do with this iconic character, we take notice and bring it to you.
Case in point this time around is the upcoming book Wolverine: Origin II. For more on this new work, check out all the info from the official Marvel press release.
This November, blockbuster writer Kieron Gillen and fan-favorite artist Adam Kubert peel back Wolverine’s shadowy past in a direct sequel to one of the most important Marvel tales of all time in Wolverine: Origin II #1!
A few years after the events of ORIGIN finds James Howlett running with the wolves…until something unexpected brings him back into the world of men! Follow the first “X-Man” as he finds his way back to civilization and falls afoul of someone Sinister, who’s just discovering mutantkind and the horrors he can visit on them.
“When we last saw Logan at the end of Origin, he was broken—barely straddling the line between man and animal,” said series writer Kieron Gillen. “But how did he transform himself from a wild recluse and into the groomed warrior he is today? That was always been a transformation I’ve wanted to explore.”

With E3 just around the corner, the news cycle doesn’t start a few days early as publishers and developers look to get their smaller bytes out just before the flood gates open. It starts a week out. And with that first wave comes a look at LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. In the horde of stories coming out in the E3 before the next generation of console launches, Traveller’s Tales and WB Games were smart to get us these screens early.
The latest shots from LEGO Marvel Super Heroes shows some characters we already knew were coming to the game like Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man and Thor in the staple of Marvel locales New York City and the newly announced Asgard. The crazy thing is Asgard and especially its rainbow bridge look pretty darn beautiful in LEGO. But with all the new visual glory coming soon from the PS4 and XBox One, it’s probably for the best we see these graphics now rather than after the Microsoft and Sony press conferences.

We don’t want to say too much about X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Okay, it wasn’t great), but at least it did well enough for the character to get another chance at headlining a movie. And heck, who doesn’t want that?
We’ve already had a couple teasers/trailers so far and now there’s another new trailer that’s arrived for The Wolverine. This one will be attached Fast & Furious 6 in theaters this week so for some of you, this may be the only way to see it.
We kid, we kid. Anyway, this trailer continues the tradition of awesome and still makes us excited for the movie. It’s also nice to see a certain, hot, redheaded telepath in this one. Although, we don’t really need Wolverine to be quite so touchy-feely, but I guess you can’t have everything.
Check out the trailer after the break. Look for The Wolverine in theaters on July 26.

Say what you will about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but at least it did well enough for the character to get another chance at headlining a movie. And heck, who doesn’t want that? Wolverine is awesome.
There’s a new trailer that’s arrived on the Internets for the upcoming sequel to Origins called simply The Wolverine. In it we get a good bit of action, drama, kick-ass fights and pretty much everything else we could want. Plus, there’s even some shots of Hugh Jackman without a shirt for the ladies (or the gents that appreciate that kind of thing).
In other words, it looks like The Wolverine is back where he belongs and back in the hands of someone, in this case director James Mangold, who can do him justice. Look for The Wolverine in theaters on July 26.
Check out the trailer, first shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last month, after the break.
