So on the Monday Freeview, we have brought you some examples of free shows or games you’ve been able to get a hold of. Up until this point though we have ignored two very important “free” options in the gaming world. These are the downloadable gaming libraries available to those subscribed to the XBox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus services.
While these services are technically not free, the inclusion of downloadable titles has been added to them as an added value while both primarily serve as a way for gamers to play online for the XBox 360, XBox One and PlayStation 4.
First, let’s take a look at the PlayStation Plus service. Originally a waning service as it wasn’t required for online play, the Instant Game Collection was one of the features that had not been fully exploited. It wasn’t until about two years after the service launched in June of 2010 that they began offering full PlayStation 3 titles to the roster as opposed to mainly retro games or PSN titles.

Say what you will about Spike’s Video Game Awards and their choices of winning titles, but it is one of the places to see the premiere trailers for some of the biggest games of the following year. Six months separated from E3, the VGAs are the biggest nationally televisions gaming event in the latter half of the year in the US. As a result, games that were quiet during E3 get revived interest while other games that were spotlighted at E3 get one last big push before their releases early in the next year.
So far, Spike has revealed three teasers for game’s that will be getting the ultimate spotlight on this year’s VGAs. Gears of War: Judgment will be coming to the VGAs only six months after its E3 announcement and will focus on the character Baird in the early parts of the Locust War. The Last of Us actually made its debut at last year’s VGAs and quickly grew a rabid fan base. Coming from the same studio that brought us Uncharted, The Last of Us has an intense blend of action and survival in an apocalyptic setting while also focusing on the relationship between its two diverse main characters. Finally, after a plethora of delays, Bioshock Infinite will make its way to the VGAs to help prepare for its February 2013 launch.
Check out all the teasers below after the jump and catch the Spike Video Game Awards on Friday night, December 7th at 9 PM on Spike TV.

Remember a few months ago when it seemed like fall 2012 was loaded with tons of awesome, highly anticipated video game releases?
We told you how BioShock: Infinite would be delayed several months and now add another of those high-profile games has jumped ship to early 2013. In an announcement made on Edios Games’ forums, Darrell Gallagher informed us that the Tomb Raider reboot game has been pushed to 2013:
Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.
We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait. The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.
Unfortunate news for a game that a lot of people were really look forward to. Although we here at The Flickcast think this might be for the best, in a world where Uncharted has set a new standard for action and treasure hunting games, Tomb Raider has a lot to live up to. At the very least the game wont be a no-show at E3 like BioShock, so we wont have to long to wait to see what sort of additions this delay allows.

The original Bioshock is a modern gaming classic. Proof that visual style and excellent storytelling are paramount qualities that can over come simple and semi-linear game play. Then the sequel came out and it sucked.
The hope is that Bioshock: Infinite can deliever the magic from the original, and everything we have seen to this point promises to do just that.
2k Games announced today that the much anticipated sequel is going to officially hit on October 16th, 2012. Setting up this marquee title in the early fourth quarter window that is becoming the premiere release season in the video game world.
One aspect of the upcoming game that has fans so excited is that it isn’t really all that much of a sequel. Bioshock: Infinite is not set in the underwater world of Rapture, but instead will take place in the flying world of Columbia. Such a dramatic change is hopefully going to help rekindle the since of awe and wonder that the original game had in spades.
The game will also be set in a different time period, actually going further back in time to a a full one hundred years ago, 1912, instead of the familiar late 1940’s of the first two games. We at The Flickcast certianly can’t wait to get our hands on this exciting new game.

Saturday night, Spike TV held its annual Video Game Awards show which, as promised, gave the first looks at some huge trailers for 2012’s gaming landscape.
Naughty Dog gets to step away from their blockbuster Uncharted series to work on a new IP titled The Last of Us. This new title takes a different approach from the recent string of zombie / infected scenarios where it looks like it can be a game of stealth and horror mixed together. It isn’t a world like Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead where the creatures flood the street and makes the possibility of combining the stealth and horror genres pretty intriguing.
This has the possibility of becoming a fantastic PlayStation exclusive franchise. The trailer for The Last of Us is definitely one of the great surprises from the VGAs this year.

We’ve got too much stuff to do to be everywhere so as we did for Ubisoft and Microsoft, we also skipped the Sony press conference as well. Heck, we just wanted them to apologize for all the PSN problems lately and tell us a solution had been found to actually secure their network.
As we knew that probably wasn’t going to happen it didn’t seem like a press event we absolutely had to attend. Not when we could do the same as before and rely on our friends at Geek Week for some help. Although, we did already bring you the news of the new Sony Vita.
Here’s the rest of the highlights from the Sony press conference last night:
• Sony previews MORTAL KOMBAT, UNCHARTED 3, and RACHET & CLANK: ALL 4 ONE in 3D
• Gameplay of UNCHARTED 3 is demoed, and a 3D trailer is shown
• RESISTANCE 3 is demoed in 3D; on September 6, Sony will offer a $150 sharpshooter bundle for RESISTANCE 3, which includes the game, a gun, and a Move kit
• GOD OF WAR: ORIGINS COLLECTIONS announced, with 3D support
• Sony is developing a special 24″ television with two-player splitscreen technology that will allow players wearing special glasses to play two-player games on one screen
• Kobe Bryant does a Move demo of NBA 2K12; the game is due out October 4

As if we weren’t excited enough for Bioshock Infinite after what we were shown at PAX East, Irrational Games showed off a new trailer at E3 yesterday.
While short and a bit frenetic, the trailer gives us a taste of everything Bioshock Infinite has to offer, from the weapons and powers you’ll be wielding, the chaos and violence consuming the city of Colombia, and the fraught relationship between you and Caroline.
After the trailer was shown, Irrational Games’ Ken Levine announced that Bioshock Infinite will have some Playstation Move support, though he did not say how. He also revealed that a Bioshock game is in the works for the recently revealed PS Vita.
Bioshock Infinite will be released on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC sometime next year. You can watch the trailer after the jump.

The expo floor is bigger and better at this year’s PAX East. If you’re a little overwhelmed by how much there is to take in, or if you’re one of the readers at home hoping to hear as much as possible about the con, here’s my guide to everything you might be missing on the show floor.
Child of Eden
The spiritual successor of Rez, an obscure rhythm-shooter released for PS2 before the time of Guitar Hero or Rock Band, Child of Eden is a game you may not have heard of, but should be really excited for. It’s another rhythm based shooter, where your shots release music that goes along with the background music and sound effects in the game, also similar to games like Lumines for the PSP.
What’s really exciting about Child of Eden is that it’ll have Kinect support, allowing you to shoot and navigate through its kaleidoscope world without a controller.
If you’re at PAX East this weekend, you can check out Child of Eden at booth #824.

Welcome to this week’s On the Radar where we delve into all corners of the entertainment, tech and geek Internets for news, views and whatnot that may have escaped our regular coverage this week. Let is know if we missed something interesting. Otherwise, on to the links!
• You asked for it, (or maybe you didn’t). Either way, here’s the list of the Top 10 Most Ridiculous Character-Branded Products.
• If you find yourself asking if a poster would be too nerdy to put in your room…Chances are you probably know the answer.
• If you caught last night’s Community, then you’re most definitely going to want to go back and read the Twittersodes leading up to the airing. Trust us.
• In prepping for his epically animated Owl Fighting movie, Zack Snyder admits that he had people dress up in owl suits to choreograph the fight scenes.
• Katy Perry recorded a spoof of her song and sang it alongside Elmo on Sesame Street. The song was immediately pulled from the episode before airing. What’s the world coming to when a girl can’t sing about kissing other girls on a show with Muppets?
• A student dressed like The Hulk smashed a car and is now getting in trouble for it. The real crime? The fact that there wasn’t a camera rolling the entire time.

While we probably have to wait for a while before we ever get a Bioshock film, we have some fantastic cinematic sequences from the previous two games to hold us over. Now, we’ve got a brand new trailer that will give us enough to get excited until Bioshock Infinite, the final game, hits stores in late 2012.
The third game in the series takes place in 1912, years before the events of Bioshock and Bioshock 2. If the first game took place in the underwater city of Rapture, and the second game followed through the city after it surfaced, this game understandably takes place in the sky city of Columbia. Consider it a steampunk Cloud City from Star Wars.
The new protagonist of the game is Booker Dewitt, a disgraced ex detective who’s onto a hot trail that will uncover a sinister plot. Not a whole lot more is known about the game, as the very first news is hitting today, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we get info.
In the meantime, check out the first new trailer for Bioshock Infinite after the jump, and be sure to pick it up on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC in 2012.
