LEGO® DIMENSIONS™_20150703082142
Have you ever been playing Portal and wondered how The Doctor would do in Aperture Science? Thanks to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment now you can find out. LEGO Dimensions announced at San Diego Comic-Con the upcoming inclusion of Doctor Who. It is the first time Doctor Who has ever been in a LEGO videogame.
The stars of the BBC America show have lent their voices to their respective characters in the game as well. Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, and Michelle Gomez have all brought their Doctor Who personas to LEGO life in Dimensions. The game is truly a mash-up of worlds. The TARDIS could pop up in Gotham City or The Doctor could ride along with Scooby and Shaggy.
As is seen in the trailer, all twelve doctors are included in Dimensions. In fact, LEGO has pulled out all the stops to please Whovians. When the Twelfth Doctor is defeated in a level, he returns as the First Doctor and then continues regenerating back up to Twelve. The TARDIS interior changes depending on which Doctor is “alive” but can also be manually chosen by the player. A jukebox inside the TARDIS allows players to select different versions of the Doctor Who theme music.

The year of the Twelfth Doctor has also been the year of incredible ratings for BBC America. Doctor Who finished 2014 with its highest rated season ever including over 2.3 million viewers on Christmas Day for the special “Last Christmas” episode.
Peter Capaldi debuted as the newest regeneration of the beloved Time Lord alongside returning companion Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. Together the duo brought in an average 2.035 million viewers in Live+3, meaning those ratings also include DVR views. Capaldi’s first Christmas Special more than doubled the viewership of his predecessor’s first such episode, “A Christmas Carol,” in 2010. The Twelfth Doctor’s “Last Christmas” was the #1 show in all of Primetime television, excluding sports.
Series 8 added fresh new twists and turns to the Doctor Who mythos including a reappearance by The Master, but not as we’ve ever seen him before. Michelle Gomez starred as Missy, a female regeneration of the Doctor’s old frenemy . Samuel Anderson also had a touching and integral turn as Clara’s boyfriend Danny Pink.
“Last Christmas” will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on February 17. Doctor Who will return for another full season in 2015.

A new companion may be in store for the Doctor in series 8. Samuel Anderson has joined the cast of Doctor Who as recurring character, Danny Pink, in the new season.
Like the Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) current companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), Pink is a teacher at Coal Hill School. Other character details have yet to be released but perhaps he will be following in the footsteps of Rory Williams and Mickey Smith as the companion’s guy back home who eventually joins the Doctor’s traveling team.
Doctor Who’s lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, points out Pink’s connection with a bit of the show’s history. “For the fourth time in Doctor Who history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS,” he said. “In 1963 teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the first Doctor. These days it’s the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor.”

New Doctor means new clothes. The Twelfth Doctor is getting into the Whovian swing of things by choosing an outfit all his own. BBC America has released the first image of Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi in what will likely be his signature costume.
At first glance, Calpaldi’s look is old school with a bit of modern flair. While there is no bowtie or extra long scarf or Converse shoes to stand out, the clothes do fit the man. As Capaldi said, “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
Of course all Whovians know that the Doctor’s outfit usually has a story behind it but fans will have to wait until later this year to learn how and why the Twelfth Doctor picked his costume. The specifics of the outfit, according to BBC America, are: a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt and black Doc Marten shoes.

The new era of Doctor Who officially began today as Peter Capaldi stepped aboard the TARDIS full-time. Cameras rolled on the first episodes of season 8 and BBC America passed along the above photo along with a few words from the new Doctor as well as Lead Writer Steven Moffat.
Joining Capaldi is Jenna Coleman, who returns as companion Clara Oswald. Note that this photo does not show the Doctor in his new costume. That will be revealed at a later date. Expect all kinds of news and photos from the new season throughout the year.

Christmas started early today as the BBC released a hand full of images and promotional art from the Doctor Who Christmas Special episode The Time of the Doctor. As viewers of the show are aware, this episode marks the last for Matt Smith as his Doctor will be seen to regenerate into Peter Capaldi’s incarnation at the end, foreshadowed by the tagline “A Change Is Going To Come…”. There is nothing spoilery in the below images so feel free to view them without ruining the story.
The Time of the Doctor is written by Steven Moffat and directed by Jamie Payne. Jenna Coleman returns as companion Clara Oswald. Also starring are Mark Brighton, Sonita Henry, Orla Brady, James Buller, Tom Gibbons, Shelia Reid, Jack Hollington, Rob Jarvis and Tessa Peake-Jones.
It will air on the BBC in England and BBC America in the States on Christmas Day.

Everyone is just catching their breath after the big Doctor Who 50th Anniversary celebrations, but the BBC remind us that there is more to come. On Christmas Day the annual, now-traditional special episode will air and this one will be dramatically more special than the previous years.
“The Time of the Doctor” as it is now titled will see current Doctor Matt Smith saying goodbye to the role he has occupied since the first day of 2010. As the episode closes we will see the eleventh (Twelfth? Thirteenth?) Doctor regenerate yet again and Peter Capaldi will assume the part.
Recent interviews with showrunner Steven Moffat seem to hint that the previously established twelve regeneration limit will come to head as we now know that there was a previously unknown regeneration in the form of John Hurt’s “War Doctor” and it appear that the “diverted regeneration energy” brouhaha from 2008’s “Journey’s End” still decreases the count by one.
However it plays out, we only have a few short weeks until “The Time of the Doctor” and the answers to some long-standing questions. In the meantime, check out the trailer below and look for all the hidden Easter Eggs in the official poster above.

We don’t usually believe in releasing teasers right before actual trailers. It’s mostly kinda lame. However, when the teaser in question just happens to be about the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, we make an exception.
With just 15 days to go before the 50th anniversary, BBC America has got quite a few things going on that will lead up to the global simulcast of the anniversary special, Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor. Starting on November 18t, the channel will run marathons and primetime specials including a look into the science behind the series, a look back at departing Time Lord Matt Smith‘s tenure, and Smith and David Tennant will be guests on The Graham Norton Show.
On November 22nd, BBC America will premiere the new Doctor Who film, An Adventure In Space And Time, which documents the genesis of the character and gives insight into his enduring popularity. They will also release a full trailer for Day Of The Doctor, which stars Smith, Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt, tomorrow.
Until then, here’s a little taste of what you can expect. After the break, of course.

Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary will truly be celebrated worldwide. BBC America has announced that the special episode, “The Day of the Doctor,” will air simultaneously across the globe in at least 75 countries and spanning six continents.
“Few TV shows can still lay claim to being appointment viewing but Doctor Who takes this to another level,” Tim Davie, CEO of BBC Worldwide, said. “In its 50th Anniversary year we wanted to create a truly international event for Doctor Who fans in as many countries as possible and the simultaneous broadcast and cinema screening of the special across so many countries will make for a fitting birthday tribute to our Time Lord.”
The list of countries airing the special at the same time as the UK include the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Colombia and many more. Additional countries are expected to be added over the next month. BBC America is also set to announce soon select 3D screenings of the special episode in U.S. theaters.
