Hey there, it’s time for a brand new episode of The Flickcast. We’re excited too!
On this week’s episode Chris and Joe discuss a bunch of stuff including American Gods, the Han Solo solo movie and the new Twin Peaks series. Plus, the usual even more.
No beer selections again this week (But if you do drink, buy local). Picks this week include Chris’ pick of the Netflix series Glow and Joe’s pick of the amazing LEGO Saturn V rocket.

Great news! There were some tense moments for awhile there, but we’re happy to report class is back in session at Greendale Community College. Well, at least it will be starting March 17th.
That’s right, with most of the original cast once again cracking the books and getting to know each other better in the study room, Community is scheduled to return at its new home on Yahoo Screen. But don’t just take our word for it, see what the cast has to say about this monumental event in a new video.
Check it out after the break. Six seasons and a movie!
We’re glad to see Community is back and we’re liking it so far now that Dan Harmon is back at the helm. Tonight is an all-new episode, featuring awesome guest star Walton Goggins, so we’ve got previews for it for you.
In addition, there’s a new episode of Parks and Recreation tonight too and yes, we’ve got previews for that one too. Both shows are really funny and hopefully both will survive the often fickle TV audience who loves a show at first and then vilifies it later on for no real reason other than, we suspect, boredom. These shows deserve better.
Anyway, check out the previews after the break. Look for things to kick off first with Community tonight at 8/7C on NBC.
Ah, Community. The little show about a ragtag study group at a community college called Greendale. We’re very happy you’re still around.
To be honest, we loved the show from the beginning, but were never quite sure it was gonna last too long. It’s quirky and quirky doesn’t always sell. Fortunately, in this case, it did and the show is about to launch its fifth season this week.
To get you primed for the return, we’ve got a bunch of previews. Check them out after the break.
Look for Community to return to NBC on Thursday, Januray 2 at 8/7C.
It’s a bit hard to believe that Community, NBC’s little comedy that could, is about to debut its fifth season. Because it started out so strong, and so different, from a lot of network comedies, we were almost positive it wouldn’t last this long.
We were particularly concerned when creator and showrunner Dan Harmon was kicked off the show. But still, it kept on going and miraculously, NBC realized they had made a mistake in letting Harmon go and brought him back for season five.
That brings us to now with the January return of Community just around the corner and we couldn’t be happier about it. Naturally, we’ve got a preview for you.
Check it out after the break. Look for Community to return on Thursday, January 2 at 8 on NBC.
Sure, okay, there’s a LEGO movie. But you know what, it doesn’t look that bad. In fact, it looks pretty darn good. Yeah, we were surprised too.
And now, Warner Bros has released a trailer for it for all to enjoy. Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman provide the voices and the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs team of Phil Lord & Christopher Miller wrote and directed.
Check out the trailer after the break. Look for The LEGO Movie to hit theaters on February 7.
It should be obvious by now that in addition to movies and other geekery, we really love TV. We especialy love shows like Community and Parks and Recreation.
Fortunately, we’re going to get brand new episodes of both those shows tonight, as well as a new episode of The Office. To get you up to speed and ready for tonight, we’ve got some previews for the episodes, as well as a new video about another show we’re into: Hannibal.
Check out all the previews after the break. The fun starts tonight at 8/7C with Community.
Obviously, we’re very curious to see new epiosdes of Community now that Dan Harmon is off the show from the beginning of the season and Chevy Chase left part way through. Putting it bluntly, we’re not optimistic about the show’s chances.
We felt that way, that is, until we saw this new mash-up featuring the cast. Seeing it almost gives us hope for the new season. Almost. You should judge for yourself.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got a treat for Grimm fans: part one of a Grimmm web series. That’s right, check it out after the break and enjoy while you wait for the show to return on March 8th.
Oh, in case you didn’t know, Community returns on February 7th. Check out all the vids, well, you know the drill.
Presented without much in the way of comment is this fan photo, directly from the fine folks at Fan Art Exhibit, of Alison Brie as the First Avenger (aka Captain America). As fan-created photoshop works go, this one is pretty damn good.
The fact that it features one of our favorite actresses is just a bonus. Would this ever happen in real movie world? It’s unlikely. In fact, it’s pretty much impossible.
Would we pay money to see this on the big screen? Heck yes.
Click through for a larger version. No need to thank us.
Two of our favorite actresses working today are Lizzy Caplan and Alison Brie. So, to have them both in one movie is quite the accomplishment and makes us very interested in said movie.
The movie in question is the indie romantic comedy Save the Date. In case you’re not familiar, the movie is based on the graphic novels written by Jeffrey Brown and reportedly was very well received at the Sundance Film Festival last year.
You can check the movie out online today via IFC Films Video on Demand, SundanceNow, iTunes, Amazon Streaming, Google Play, Xbox Zune and PS3 PlayStation Unlimited. It will also hit theaters on December 14th.
Check out the trailer after the break. We love it. Let us know what you think.
We are not happy that Dan Harmon left Community. That unhappiness is made even deeper by the fact that NBC has pushed back the premiere of the show. We don’t get it (obviously the network doesn’t either).
Perhaps we should all watch this video where the cast explains what the heck is going on. Let’s hope it helps.
