And, we’re back. We took a week off last week for various reasons, but now we’ve got a brand new episode of The Flickcast for you. As usual, there’s no need to thank us.
On this week’s show Chris and Joe take on some new topics and revisit old ones. Some of these topics include X-Men: Days of Future Past, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the true Star Wars day, Starlog magazine, Gareth Edwards and the new Star Wars, Godzilla, shakeups in the Marvel world including Edgar Wright leaving Ant Man and Drew Goddard leaving the Daredevil TV series, the merits of time travel, the history of the Rancor and a whole lot more.
It’s a pretty good episode, all things considered. Plus, all the more is pretty amazing.
The guys also made picks this week. Chris’ pick is the novel The Hydra Protocol by David Wellington and Joe’s pick is the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.

This is just, well, I don’t know. Love it or hate it, here’s a video (crafted by YouTube’s Michael McNulty) that shows all six Star Wars movies at the same time. At least, if you or a loved one has not seen one or more of the movies, this is a way to do it quickly and efficiently.
Not to say this is a good way, it’s just efficient. In truth, it gave most of us here a headache. But then we usually like to watch our favorite (and not so favorite) movies one at a time.
Call us old fashioned, but that’s the way we like it. I really hope this isn’t the start of a trend. That said, it is pretty interesting and even, at points, kinda fun to watch.
Draw your own conclusions by watching the video after the break.

With the Blu-Ray release of the Star Wars saga coming this September, 20th Century Fox is titillating fans with a sneak peek at some of the extras, including this trailer of some footage cut from the original trilogy.
The clip shows a handful of glimpses at some deleted scenes, including the “wampas in the Hoth base” sequence. These aren’t from the digitally remastered/Greedo-shoots-first editions released in the late ‘90s; these are from the original original films, right down to the ‘70s film grain—and that’s not to say they look fuzzy. They’re as crisp and good-looking as you could want.
Fox plans to release Blu-Ray editions of both the original trilogy as well as the prequels and, for the fans who need every damn thing, a whopping nine-disc Complete Saga edition that will include over 30 hours of special features from deleted and alternative scenes like these to, well, pretty much anything else George has lying around in the archives.
You can view the trailer after the jump.

In case you missed it, yesterday was International Star Wars Day. To commemorate the event or, in some cases, dash the hopes of nerds everywhere, Lucasfilm took the opportunity to announce the full details of the Strar Wars Saga’s impending release on Blu-ray.
Before you bother to read on hoping for some good news, I will save you the suspense. The original, unmodified original trilogy will NOT be in this collection.
Yes, that’s right, if we want to watch Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in their original, non-Lucas tinkered with versions, we will just have to keep watching those “Definitive Collection” THX Laserdiscs. I’ve got mine, how about you?
However, if you don’t care about how things should be and, instead, want to keep rewarding George Lucas with money for fucking up his own movies, feel free to read on and get all the details.
The six films of the Saga are accompanied by three discs of extras totaling over 40 hours of material – some new, some old. Here’s the full press release from Lucasfilm.

Much like Dick Dastardly strapping Nell to railroad tracks once a week, George Lucas is at it again and re-releasing the complete Star Wars trilogy in theaters again, now in glorious 3D.
The last time, when Lucas released the original trilogy with “a few minor changes” like Greedo shooting first, and shoehorning Ghost Anakin into Jedi. Now that the fans have calmed down from that whole mess. Lucas feels that converting all six movies in a whole new dimension is just enough to stay topical. From THR.
Starting with “Phantom Menace,” Lucasfilm would use several higher-end conversion houses to work on the project. By late winter or early spring in 2012, the exhibition industry should have all the 3D screens anyone could want for such a release.
At present, pics are limited to 2,000-2,500 3D locations owing to an insufficient installed base of projectors and screens. Movie theaters are adding 3D screens at a clip of 500 a month in the U.S. Foreign exhibitors also are pushing into 3D as quickly as possible now that financing for the installations is flowing.
Also pushing the timetable is a potential breakthrough in 3D TV technology. With Samsung penetrating the market with 50,000-plus 3D-equipped sets and Sony recently sending its version to market, the home-viewing experience could be primed for 3D DVD versions of the films by the time the new 3D theatrical releases have run their course.
To sum up: much like he has in the past, Lucas is sacrificing what most thing consider the “holy trilogy” in order to progress modern technology. Boo for SW fans, yay for fans of entertainment technology. Expect to see the new releases mid 2012.

For those Family Guy fans who have been impatiently waiting for the next installment of their Star Wars parody series, you need wait no longer. Seth McFarlane and crew have taken on the last film of the original series, Return of the Jedi.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced that the new film, Family Guy: It’s a Trap! will be available right in time for Christmas. It will be available in both Blu-ray and DVD formats. Those lucky enough to get into the Comic-Con panel received a 10 minute preview of the new spoof and from various reports it doesn’t disappoint. The rest of us will unfortunately have to wait until December to get a glimpse.
The press release is touting an all-star array of guest stars including Adam West and Carrie Fisher. We also have the privilege of having Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn reprise their Star Trek roles once again. For those who have not purchased the previous two films, it was also announced that they will be releasing a triple-pack of all three Star Wars spoofs.
If you are willing to wait, there is a chance that they will follow suit of their last release, Family Guy: Something Something Something Darkside, and utilize Family Guy: It’s a Trap! as next season’s finale. There is no report about what special features will be available or whether there will be any other special editions released concurrently.
Look for Family Guy: It’s a Trap! on December 21st when it hits stores nationwide. For more Family Guy news keep it here at The Flickcast.

Sometimes during your travels around the Internets you come across something that just needs to be shared. That’s just one of the great things about the Internets: lots of cool stuff floating out there. Case in point is this photo discovered by Kottie and shard with his Twitter followers.
That’s where we found it and now, we’re bringing it to you. Don’t say we never gave you anything.
In case you can’t tell, that’s a photo of Carrie Fisher and her stunt double taking a break on the set of Return of the Jedi. And yes, they’re both wearing everyone’s favorite slave bikini outfit.
We’ll just let that one soak in for a few minutes. Really, what else is there left to say except be sure to take a look at the larger photo after the jump and enjoy? Oh, and it may be time to watch Return of the Jedi again.
Just sayin’.

Sometimes, if you’ve been good, you get what you wish for. This is one of those times. Why do I say that? Well, read on. In an interview with Megan Fox the, shall we just say very attractive, star of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, she revealed some very interesting bits of info sure to delight fanboys (And girls too, we’re all equal here).
One such bit of info of particular interest to yours truly was that Fox really wants to go to Comic-Con in San Diego next month and, not only that, being the big Star Wars fan that she is, she would really like to go dressed in a “Slave Leia” costume. Oh boy. You hear that sound? That’s the sound of millions of fanboys (And yes, still girls as well) heads exploding.
I don’t know if Fox is really going to attend Comic-Con dressed that way but now any reluctance I had about going next month has miraculously disappeared. See you in San Diego!
Oh, by the way, Fox also talks about some other stuff in the video but really, she had me at “Slave Leia.”
Check out the full video after the jump.
