Almost four years ago, a fan made Mortal Kombat short made its way online which lead to both a resurgence in interest in Mortal Kombat and eventually two seasons of Mortal Kombat: Legacy which lived on the Machinima YouTube channel. While there were some hiccups in the storytelling and even continuity between seasons, no one could argue that Machinima put major promotion behind the series and laud its success.
Now, in a world where you’ll seemingly never see Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat on consoles, MK’s age old nemesis finds its way too to the Machinima channel with Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. Backed by Capcom and Honda (which still leaves one’s head reeling), Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist will debut on the Machinima channel on May 23rd. The narrative will follow series’ favorites Ken and Ryu in their training under their master Gōken before the events of the world warrior tournament come to pass.
As seen in the trailer, Akuma will also make his way into the series and will actually be played by the show’s creator Joey Ansah. In addition to living on the YouTube channel, Content Media says it will also bring it to TV, on-demand, DVD and Blu-ray.

In 2010, Mega Man fans rejoiced at the announcement of Mega Man Universe which included appearences from Capcom all stars like Ryu from Street Fighter and Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins… but were subsequently disappointed at its cancelation in March of 2011. Since, there has been little news on the future of Mega Man. But that didn’t mean those fans would sit back and wait. If something was going to happen, they were going to take matters into their own hands.
This past weekend, Capcom revealed the announcement trailer of Street Fighter X Mega Man. A fan made PC title, it will be distributed from Capcom’s community site www.Capcom-Unity.com. Just in time for the conclusion of Street Fighter’s 25th anniversary and the beginning of Mega Man’s, this title will be distributed for free from Capcom.

When it was rereleased on XBox Live Arcade three years ago, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was the hottest title for fighting game fans, even nine years after its release. What came next was the most hyped fighting game in recent memory with Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It’s no surprise that Capcom would take the popularity of the franchise as well as the recent publicity of Marvel because of the success of the Avengers and release two of the games that started it all.
Coming in September of this year to both the PlayStation Network and XBox Live Arcade is Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, a two for one deal with both Marvel Super Heroes and the first Marvel vs. Capcom. Before the X-Men crossed paths against Street Fighter, Marvel pitted its own heroes and villains against each other in Marvel Super Heroes. After the crossover success of X-Men vs. Street Fighter though, Marvel picked its heaviest hitters and brought them against Capcom’s all-star lineup in Marvel vs. Capcom.

Since most of the major Marvel Universe players have found their way already into the Minimates line, ArtAsylum is now able to give some spotlight to some of the heroes, villains and storylines from the past. This time in the 43rd wave of the Minimates line, which also marks the ten year anniversary of the product, the Marvel Minimates will focus on the “Death of Jean Dewolff” storyline.
Back in the mid 80’s when comics were beginning to mature in both artistic merit and story themes, editor on the Spectacular Spider-Man Jim Owsley gave writer Peter David the task of knocking off detective Jean DeWolff. The character of Sin-Eater was created as a way to kill DeWolff. Interestingly enough, the biggest impact of this story is the indirect creation of Venom as Eddie Brock claimed to have found out who the real Sin Eater was, only to be disproven by Spider-Man catching the real killer and costing Brock his job.
You can check out Art Asylum’s interview with creator Peter David here on their site and check out the full gallery of the collection after the jump.

At New York Comic Con, we were able to get a booth tour from Capcom which got us some hands on time with three of their much anticipated titles. The first of which was the upcoming rerelease of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Back at Comic Con in San Diego, after announcing the first set of new characters being added to the game, there was a massive leak which revealed the full roster. Now, Capcom has gone official with all but a few of these characters and had them available for us to play as at the Con.
We demoed the game on a traditional controller for the XBox 360. As there was an all day tournament going on, the wait for even press to play using the fight sticks was outrageous and considering most households would use a regular controller anyway, we felt like this would give us a good idea of what to expect from the game. Focusing our teams on the newer characters, we had to learn on the fly just what kind of play styles to use with them.
Vergil was the most reminiscent of Dante from the original Marvel vs. Capcom 3 focusing on using his sword for a majority of his attacks. Firebrand from Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins ended up being surprisingly fun to play with as we didn’t really have any idea what to expect from him. Nova and Ghost Rider felt like the badasses we expected them to be but sadly Rocket Raccoon was not an option for us yet.
The most surprisingly fun character was Phoenix Wright. The best character comparison we could make was him being like Dan from Street Fighter. His attacks may look horribly wimpy as he throws paperwork at opponents but he is perfect for luring opponents into a false sense of security.

Way back in November, Capcom already announced the first batch of DLC coming for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath would be on their way to the roster. Last week, coinciding with the game’s actual release, Capcom announced another set of DLC. This time, much in the vein of Super Street Fighter IV, it is new costumes. Now we know what you are thinking. Why would you care about a different colored pair of jeans on Haggar or an alternate paint job on the Sentinel. Well there we would agree with you.
But this isn’t just any set of alternate costumes. Six characters will receive new attire. Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Chris, Ryu and Dante. Instead of just being fresh coats of paint on existing templates, these are entirely new costumes being added to the game.
Captain America will be given what Marvel fans have affectionately coined the Captain Steve outfit. As the world’s new top cop, Steve Rogers Super Soldier doesn’t hide behind the mask anymore. Instead he has a more modern costume. Interestingly enough, Capcom chose to give him the classic Cap shield though instead of his current comic weapon, a light disk shield.

To say the first trailer for Mega Man Universe was a little confusing and vague would be an understatement. Luckily after more than a month of silence, Capcom has finally released the first gameplay footage of the title which, now looking back, makes a lot more sense. Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man explains in the video below that players will get the chance to experience a Mega Man game using various incarnations and art styles for the character, as well as some Street Fighter characters as well.
Below, you will see Mega Man, Bad Box Art Mega Man and Rockman all in action through this 3D modeled 2D sidescroller. There is also a brief glimpse of Ryu in the character loading screen to check out as well. From the looks of things, Mega Man will be sticking to its sidescrolling routes in Mega Man Universe. With that, expect incredibly challenging levels to fight through and an ever changing powerset depending on the villains Mega Man will be squaring off against.
Keiji also mentions that more characters will be added in the future to the title so it is possible that skins resembling Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man X and other versions from his 20 year history may find their way into the title as well.
Take a peek at the trailer after the jump and make sure to let us know what you think.

Think back to the mid-90s when fighting games were the dominant console gaming genre. Before Halo: Combat Evolved was handed down by the video game gods to convert the masses to the ways of the first person shooter, you couldn’t turn without bumping into a stack of newly released fighting games. But, out of all those games released, few stood the test of time. Street Fighter. Mortal Kombat. Tekken. Those were the ones that survived. Those are the ones we are still playing today. The question has always remained though, “What would happen if these fighting juggernauts ever collided?”
Well, back at San Diego Comic-Con, two thirds of our prayers have been answered as Capcom and Namco Bandai announced Street Fighter X Tekken. Coming to the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3, this game will feature competitors from both the Street Fighter and Tekken franchise battling it out using the same engine that powered both Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4. The game will have Tag Team combat where players choose two characters to “deliver knockout assist attacks and special combos”.
So far, only four fighters have officially been placed in the game’s roster. Ryu and Chun-Li have both been featured representing the Street Fighter family while Tekken has shown Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams. Undoubtedly, the Street Fighters already have a gripe as they don’t have last names like the Tekken ones do.

During E3, Nintendo touted that the Nintendo 3DS would play host an amazing assortment of high quality third party titles in addition to Nintendo produced titles. One of those publishers that was announced to be working on the 3DS is Capcom with two of their premiere franchises.
Below, take a peek at the first trailer for Resident Evil: Revalations. Though these cinematics will not reflect actual gameplay, it already has lit a fire under us for the chance to finally play a Resident Evil game without the need for a multi-thousand dollar PC configuration or those ridiculous glasses.
Last year’s Resident Evil 5 in stereoscopic 3D for PC was an impressive sight to behold, but unfortunately it was not an easy barrier of entry considering the powerful PC needed to run it smoothly. Now, Chris and Jill return to the series in handheld 3D glory. If the 3DS can pull off these cut scenes shown in the trailer in 3D, consider us impressed.
Street Fighter has been a staple of the video game world for more than a decade. This past year, the series was reinvigorated with the release of Street Fighter IV. Coming to both the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game was later ported successfully to a touch screen iPhone version. Now, seeing how the game could thrive in the handheld market, Capcom is bringing it to the 3DS with the tentatively titled Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition.
The screens below show some of the Street Fighter favorites like Ryu, Cammy and Guile taking it to each other, though sadly we can’t show it to you in its full 3D glory.
